The Ex and The Father in Law

No one spoke as we all stood there watching each other in shock. Terry was staring at River, he and Gia were staring at me, I couldn't stare at River so I stared at Gia's overly round belly. Oh my god, she is pregnant, why am I feeling a pang of jealousy.

"River, how are you, it's been a while," Terry said breaking the silence and I know he was uncomfortable because I surely was.

River finally stopped staring at me but his eyes made its way to my left hand where my engagement ring shown as bright as it could. His eyes made their way up to mine as I stared back at him and saw a flicker of hurt.

"I haven't been better," he replied smiling and stretching out his hand for Terry to shake. But Terry suprised us all by pulling River in for a hug. Wait.......really?

I guess River was just as shocked as I because it took him a few seconds before he hugged him back.

"Well this is perfect!" Gia exclaimed cheerfully and I couldn't help but watch her with scrutiny. Gianni Hastings cheerful, in my presence? What is going on here?

I remained quiet and still as Terry and River broke their bromance hug and I couldn't help but look up at the man who was very close to having my heart last year.

"Darling, now that Terry is here maybe you can ask him in person rather than a phone call," Gia said to River.

"So true, Terry my man, how do you feel about being my kid's god-father?" River asked and I immediately felt embarassed by the gasp that cameout of my mouth. Terry stood there in amazement for a few seconds before a dazzling smile appeared on his lips.

"Man that would be awesome," he replied and I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on here. Why would Terry accept such a thing and why would River and Gia wnat Terry to be their child's god-father? In fact why where they here?

"So what are you guys doing here?" Gia asked as though she was readig my mind. I watched Terry immediately because I didn't know what to say. We couldn't possibly tell them that Ian was his father but I was nervous as hell to know what Terry would say.

To my suprise, quite calmly her said, "Oh, my firm was hired by the Wardan to promote the prison. He wants the prison to be seen as a place of reform not just punishment."

"Well that's understandable. We were just here to see an old um friend od the family," Gia stated and I couldn't help but hear an underlying tone in her voice. What were they really doing here? They couldn't possibly be visiting Ian right? I mean Ian hated River and he brought a pregnant Gia here would be suicide.

"Well it was great seeing you again Terrance," River said shaking Terry's hand, he then looked across to me, "you as well Sophia," gee now he remembers I'm here, pfft it's not like if I care.

"Yes Sophia you look very well and can also see that you very well by the looks of this gorgeous ring, am I to guess that Terry here has finally poped the question?" Gia asked cheerfully as he grapsed my left hand admiring my ring. Seriously, what is up with her? Is she on Prozac or something?

"Let's not butt into their personal life honey," River replied. Honey? This asshole.

"Yes Gia," I said not paying River any mind, "it took us a while but I want to marry him. He is the only man that ever made me feel this way," and I know my statement hit home when I saw the smirk on River's face, got you asshole.

"Well that's great for you, the both of you. Please do inform me of the date of your engagement party," he said to Terry and then to me he stated, "I would surely hate to miss it." With that he nodded to me and Gia flashed me an award winning smile before walking away and exiting the room.

"So that was......strange," Terry said and all I could do was nodd in agreement bcause I couldn't stop wondering what River meant.

I was brought back to my senses as the guard let us through another door. Seriously what is it with all these doors. I mean yes it is a prison but wouldn't the guards get frustrated by all of this as well?

After walking for three more minutes, we were ushered into another room with a guy in a gry shirt sitting behing a table. He looked mature but I could not guess his age. He looked fit and healthy and I had to admit that he was one sexy man. I wonder he is, must be some important person.

"Good day son," grey shirt guy said and my jaw dropped as he said, "hello Sophia Lewis, I am Ian."

Ian? Fucking Ian! This is Terry's dad? No wonder why his mom dropped her panties, I mean if he looks so now, imagine when he was in his prime years. I gulped as I nodded towards him, I immediately felt somewhat intimidated by him as he stood up to shake my hand, this man is tell. Like over six feet tall, I feel like a little girl.

"Goodday Ian, might I ask who you speaking to earlier?" Terry said pulling out a chair for me and taking a sit himself, always the gentleman.

"That isn't your concern son."

"Please refrain from calling me son and yes it is my concern. Now who was it?"

"How are you Sophia?" Ian asked me.

"I'm fine.."

"She is great," Terry said cutting me off, "who was it Ian?"

"I see that you are wearing a fantastic ring my dear, are you and my son finally engaged?" Ian asked me again and I did nothing but nodd.

"Ian."

"Yes son."

"Can you please just answer the queston. Who came to visit you today?"

"I had many visitors, but non quite as beautiful as Sophia here," he replied and I couldn't help the colour that rose to my cheeks, stinken compliments. Snap of it Sophia, this man is dangerous, he wanted to kill you eleven months ago, he isn't what he seems.

"Danmit Ian, who tha fuck came in to see you today?" Terry snapped, I knew he was angry so all I did was hold his hand, he immediately looked at me and took a deep breathe.

"Well isn't that cute," Ian said watching us, "now that's true love. When is the wedding?" he asked and I realised that he had no intention of answering Terry's question.

Terry sighed and rose up from his chair, "It's time to go Sophia, Ian isn't being serious right now and I am not in the mood." So I got up and began following Terry.

"It's too bad that we couldn't chat some more Sophia, I have been dying to meet the woman that has my son whipped. Have a nice day and I will be waiting on my invitation."

We walked outside and went staight into the car. We remained silent until Terry drove off.

"Are you okay?" he asked and I knew he thought I was scared but shockingly I wasn't. After hearing about Ian so many times, I expected to see a terrifying man and definately not the extremely hot and down to earth one I'd just met. Ian was nothing like what I thought. I could see why Gia was with him.

"I'm okay but I want to know of you are. I know you were very angry back there but do you think that River and Gia were his visitors?"

"Well at first I suspected it and I grew more suspicious when Ian refuse to let me know but one thing I can't figure out. If it was them, why were they there?"

I coudn't help him with his answer because I was just as confused.
