"cafe latte, please. yes. that'll be all." mingyu orders his regular like always, nodding generously to the cashier before sitting down at the window counter—his usual spot.

he doesn't know what it is about the window seat, but he just loves the sunlight(or in the case of right now, streetlight) that streams through the glass, allowing him a cozy, warm atmosphere while he sips his daily coffee.

suddenly, he senses movement next to him, and tries to secretly look over to who's next to him, if anybody. how did he not spot the person seated next to him? way to fail me, peripheral view. now i have to make sure i don't look awkward, he scolds himself in his mind, finally getting a glance of the person sat next to him.

a woman. she looks curiously around the cafe, her jet black hair swept neatly behind her ears. mingyu notices her stunning brown eyes before they can actually lock onto his.

he looks away as soon as she starts to look up from the ground, not wanting to get caught staring at what he could describe as a beautiful girl. little did he know, when he looked away, the girl smiled.

"americano for ha-yi!" calls a worker, and the girl gets up from her seat next to mingyu to retrieve her drink. ha-yi.

just a second later, mingyu's name is called and he repeats ha-yi's actions, and sits down next to her again. thankfully she didn't walk out the door.

he drinks awkwardly for a while, nervous to even look up again just in case she is watching. his heart races in his chest, but not nearly as swiftly as it does when he hears a sweet voice call out his name.

he musters up the courage to look at where the voice sounded from, and surely enough—ha-yi smiles softly at him, eyes aglow in the city streetlights coming in from the cafe window.

"y...yes?" mingyu responds after a short second, holding back the excited lump in his throat.

"hello! i...just wanted to introduce myself. i thought you looked nice," says ha-yi, eyes fixed on mingyu's. mingyu can't help but smile and look down at his drink.

"thank you. ha-yi, was it?" he grins. "lovely to meet you."

"you as well." she sounds lightly, turning away to sip a bit of americano. at last, mingyu can sit in comfortable silence with a beautiful girl at his side. while the silence drags on, mingyu stares, watching ha-yi switch positions in her arms to make herself comfortable as she leans her elbows against the counter.

a beautiful sight won't last forever, or at least in the light of the moment. in a blink, ha-yi is being pulled along by another girl, perhaps a friend. mingyu's heart pulls in his chest, wanting to follow her, to love her. even though he barely knows her, he can't help but feel as though she's right. for him. for his heart.

he drinks the rest of his cafe latte with a tugging in his heart, a silent mourning over someone he barely knows. the girl he met at a cafe.
