Chapter 3-1B Spoilers!!
(Continuing after Keiji's POV in the chapter)

After running into the classroom and passing out, you could've sworn you saw Keiji, you were SURE of it, but waking up you were greeted with everyone except him and Ranmaru.

"Y/n! Y/n are you okay?" A familiar voice squeaked.

"Ah... Kanna, yes I'm okay." You smiled at her, still a bit dazed.

Q-taro brought you back to your senses, "Y/n, we were going to start the banquet, a way to save us and the dummies, but found ya' like this.. you sure you're doin' okay?"

"I promise, I'm really okay..." You sighed sheepishly, "just a bit dizzy is all!"

"You ain't seen Ranmaru? He said he was going to gather everyone here but.."

"Oh.. no I haven't."

"Also," Hayasaka spoke up, "I haven't seen Kurumada anywhere."

"Did he finally die?

Hinako's words stunned everyone into silence.

"What's that reaction for? It was just a joke..."
She stopped, realizing nobody had gone to check on him.

"I'm sure he's fine! Just charging up..." Hayasaka chimed in.

"Ain't it obvious? I'm more stubborn than that."

Kurumada limps his way over from the charging room into the classroom, seemingly doing okay. You felt yourself relax and sigh, not realizing you had been holding your breath.

Discussing with the others, you all decide to go and start the banquet. The possibility of saving the lives of everyone could not be withheld much longer. It felt so close within grasp, no one was really willing to wait, pure desperate instinct was pushing everyone to this moment.

Sitting through the tense and worrying elevator ride down to the fourth floor felt like an eternity. Reko gave you a comforting and determined glance, smiling. Smiling back, you felt the elevator lurch, movement stopped and the doors opened. Rushing into the cemetery, you had no other thoughts on your mind besides the two missing members of your group.

Discussing wether or not you should start the banquet with the others, Mai spoke up.
"Shouldn't we start before Midori fixes Maple?"

Right on time, the aforementioned Midori appears, taunting you all.

"Glad I made it in time!" He cheerfully shouts across the room.

He starts talking about complete nonsense, how everyone's wish was 'granted.' Going further to telling Kanna about her real family.

Still dazed, you begin to space out after hearing all of this information. Still concerned about your two lost counterparts, you suddenly snap back to reality at the sound of something falling into the cemetery.

"Ranmaru?" You manage to sputter out.

Panicked, he yelps and raises his head, still disoriented from the fall.

"He was getting worthless ideas, too.." Midori chimes in.

You suddenly notice Ranmaru holding something in his hand.

Wait.

Midori snatches it away from him quickly, causing Ranmaru to yell at him to give it back.

"Why do you have the ID card?!" Reko snarls.

Midori snaps his gaze over to you, and chilling words left his mouth.

"Why... because he's the villain who knocked out Y/n." He grins. "Ranmaru betrayed you all..."

You felt a weight in your chest. You really trusted Ranmaru, hell, you still do. He took the ID card from you? It's inconceivable, he wouldn't—

"Th...that's wrong... Y/n..."

You meet his eyes, and are overwhelmed with sincerity. He wouldn't harm you, there's no way.

"Dammit... I can't be anything after all..." he chokes through a sob, "so... I at least wanted to be Y/n's salvation..."

Your blood runs cold.
No.. what in the world is he talking about?

"I thought.. if I put the Joe AI in me..."

...what?

"That's why you were using the AI-Ceiver?" Midori questions. "How hilarious... to give up your consciousness for them..."

You didn't hear what else they were talking about. You felt your body tremble, anger and queasiness build up in your throat. Words came out against your will.

"Are you fucking insane?"

This, obviously, caused everyone to look at you, Midori smiled, intrigued by your (finally) exciting reaction.

"W-what?" Ranmaru surprisedly mumbled.

"You were going to give up yourself for something like that? For me? Do you not see any value in yourself?" You croaked. "Why.. why would you do that?"

He fell silent.

Reko, still in a fit of rage went back to yelling at Midori, and so did a couple others, but you did not break eye contact with your fluffy-haired partner.

Stomping up to him, you grabbed him by the wrist, averting his gaze.
"I'm not..." you hiccuped, crying in a whisper, "I'm not losing anyone important to me again..."

Ranmaru, still unable to form words, felt crushed watching your trembling frame.

"I'm not losing you..." you mumbled out once more, "so don't try that shit again with me, understand?" You tried hiding your tears with your free hand, quickly failing as more threatened to fall. "You're not useless! You don't need to be a hero! You're.. you're good enough just being here for me."

"I—" Ranmaru attempted speaking once more.

"Don't...don't leave me, okay?"

He reached for your other hand, gripping it tightly. "I won't. I promise I won't."

You sniffed, forcing a half smile, only to realize that the rest of the group was fighting against the abomination that was Maple 2.0.

Squeezing Ranmaru's hand, you hugged him tightly. In a still emotional state of shock, you ramble under your breath. "I love you so much, I can't lose you too, I can't..."

Ranmaru, despite being happy by hearing those words, knew he needed to help the others. He still wants to protect you of course.

Letting go of your hands, he sighs, "I swear, I'm not going anywhere." He wasn't going to make you upset ever again.

If only Ranmaru were able to keep that promise.

I am once again, officially the worst at pacing! What is this weird bumpy road we have in this angst??  I HAVE NO CLUE.
Anyway uhhhh I finished this after a couple weeks— a nice midnight finish off to this. I'll probably re-read it in the morning and question all of my decisions but it's fINEEEEE.
