BANG!

I'm awoke by the sound of a plate crashing to the ground.

I groan and roll over to my other side.

WAAAA!

I fling my arm over half asleep and grab my phone off of my night stand. Squinting at the bright screen I see a notification from Instagram.

Paaige_375 liked your post.

My heart drops.

I flip over on my bed and sit up. Hovering over my phone fully awake now, I open Instagram and look at my last post of me at the fair on the teapots with Ashton and his little sister Sarah. Sarah sitting in between us giving us both bunny ears.

We are smiling so much. I look so happy with him.

Smiling ear to ear I realize that Paige actually noticed me.

Paige.

Paige Doc.

S-She noticed me.

Me.

Alex Gardens.

I quickly realize that my eye makeup was smudged , and delete the post.

I start getting ready for the day. I put my favorite hoodie on, it's red with a star on it. I trip while putting on my ripped blue jeans. Kneeling down I slip my socks and my platform vans on. Cuffing my jeans of course. On my way to the bathroom to put my hair in a messy bun and do some eye makeup my brother asks to borrow my AirPods for school. Remembering middle school, I let him.

My sister, my brother and I get into my dads old truck he gave me. It won't start, I try four times it just won't. My parents aren't home so I call Ashton.

"Hi!"

"What's up, Al? Are you alright?"

"Yes, I am fine, thanks for making sure. My truck won't start I was wondering if you could pick up me and my siblings?"

"Of course! I will be right over. Love you."

"Thank you so much! Love you too."

We all wait in the front yard and my brother, Tim and my sister, Eva draw a hopscotch on our driveway.

I watch them play as we wait. They look so young and happy. Like they have no worries in the world. Like the only thing that matters is the moment they are in. Happiness.

One time in the past I know my parents looked at me and thought the same thing. Or maybe when they look at me all they see is how much money I cost them.

I think about how much I would give to not have a care in my life. No crush on Paige. Only thinking of Ashton as a friend and never question if there is more. We could play hopscotch all day long. I wish I didn't care what people thought about me. Never worry if I'm too fat, too skinny, too girly, too masculine, if I care too much, or too little.

My eyes start to fill with tears. One falls as I see Ashton pull in I quickly wipe it away and put on a smile walking over to the car.

"Ashton!" Both of my siblings yell when they see him.

"C'mon guys get in."

Sarah, Eva, and Tim sit in the back seat of his black jeep. I sit in the front next to Ashton he smells like chocolate chip cookies. His mom must have been baking.

Before I get in I make eye contact with him and smile. I get lost in his eyes for a minute. His beautiful sparkling brown eyes. Realizing I have looked too long I quickly jump in the seat.

He pulls out of the driveway and we start to the Elementary school.

"So how have you guys been recently?" Ashton asks Tim and Eva.

"I have been great. I have a new friend I met at the park. Her name is Carolin." Eva replies.

"I am really excited about seventh grade." Tim says.

"Thats great." Ashton replies.

His voice is so comforting. I could listen to him for hours.

He turns on the radio. So loud we can't really talk.

Pulling into the elementary school Ashton says, "Have a great day you two." And Sarah and Eva get out.

We drove to the middle school and dropped off Tim.

After Tim gets out Ashton turns the music down so you can only hear it a little bit and asks me how I've been.

"Well, it's been fine I guess."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. How about you?"

"To be honest I have been torn up because I like this girl so much, she doesn't like me though."

For some reason this makes me jealous even though it shouldn't he is not my boyfriend.

"I'm sure that's not true you are the most kind most caring people ever. Not to mention you are stunning."

Pulling into the high school we get out and walk into the school. We start talking about what we have planned for this school year while walking to class.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

People screaming all around me.
