Our Start

Ok. Where to start? My name? It's Y/n Winters. It's been three years since everything happened at the Baker house. I was... looking for my best friend Mia who'd disappeared. I got an e-mail from her. She told me to come get her, of course that's how my husband and I ended up in the middle-of-nowhere, Louisiana. We found Mia being held captive in a dark basement. She wasn't thinking right. She attacked us like some kind of wild animal. Later on I found out she was infected by a special kind of mold. We looked all over the house trying to find an antidote, a vaccine... anything. The people who lived there were already infected. What was left of them... wasn't human. The source of the infection was a bioweapon that looked like a little girl who I found out wanted to kill me. Her name was Eveline. We fought the fucked-up family and was able to treat Mia's symptoms with a serum. Then Chris Redfield and his soldier buddies showed up and saved us.

I really don't want to think about that anymore.

Y/n's POV

I was in the kitchen cooking while Mia and Ethan are in the living room with my little angel, Rosemary Winters. I heard shouting so I went to check up on them.

Mia: There's nothing wrong with my memory.

Mia realized that I was standing there so she tone down her voice.

Mia: You're just being paranoid.

Ethan: It's not... never mind, I'm sorry. But I'm not paranoid, I'm just cautious.

Mia: Then, go cautiously take your daughter to bed.

She gave Rose to Ethan.

Mia: I'll help Y/n with dinner.

Mia came my way while Ethan went upstairs. I followed Mia and asked.

Y/n: What was that all about?

Mia: Nothing.

I grab her hand.

Y/n: Mia you promised... no more lies no more secrets.

She turn to me with a look like she's threatening me.

Mia: Like I said, there's nothing wrong with my memory.

She raised her voice a little and push me away.

Mia: Oops, sorry don't know what came over me.

This doesn't sound like Mia at all.

I just stand there looking down. My eyes went to a book on the couch. I went to it and took it up. It says "Village of Shadows"

I read throw it.

Was she reading this scary book to Rose?

Ethan came down. He must have sense the tension between us.

Ethan: Is everything alright?

Mia changed the subject.

Mia: Is she okay?

Ethan: Sleeping like a... well, like a baby. Mm, that smells good. What's that?

Mia: Hands off, mister. It's ciorba de legume. It's a local recipe.

Y/n: Wow, you've gone full native, haven't you?

Mia: Local wine, too. But if you're going to keep sulking all evening maybe you shouldn't have any. Ethan, you really have to stop worrying.

Ethan: It's just... finding you in Louisiana, Y/n's pregnancy. Chris moving us here, military training... It all happened so fast, you know?

Mia: Well, at least we're all together.
