Jake was devastated by the news, but he was willing to hear what the doctor's idea was. The doctor said, "The only way you can still play soccer is by cutting off your leg and putting a prosthetic on." Jake of course wanted to keep playing soccer, so he told the doctor without question," If that's what it takes to keep playing soccer, then I'm all for it."
About two weeks before the tournament, it was the day before he had to have the procedure. Jake was thinking about the time where he was either at Disney World or Universal. He would always see people who were in the military with prosthetic legs or arms and think to himself that he was never going to get a prosthetic. Jake was trying to think of happy times, like when his dad came home from the military about seven years ago. His mom let him skip school today so he can take his mind of things. Soon it came time were he had to go to sleep. Before, he went to sleep his mom ruffled his strawberry blonde hair and said that everything is going to be okay, whatever happens.
When he wakes up in the morning he starts staring at his pale leg before it is gone. When he gets to the emergency room, he starts crying like Niagra Falls. The surgeon comes in the room to give Jake the medicine to put him to sleep and tells him to count back from 100. Everything in Jakes life flashed before his eyes before he can count down to 90. The surgeon can now start his procedure.
To be continued.
