Third Person POV
The next morning Midorima had finished getting dressed when he received a call. Kuroko was awake but he wasn't doing well. He wasn't responding to anyone and just stared off into space. Midorima checked the time and realized it wouldn't hurt to go in early.
It was 8:33 when Midorima got to the hospital. After clocking in he rushed to Kuroko's room. Opening the door, the blue-haired man looked over to see who it was. He didn't even react and went back to looking out the window. Kuroko was always soft-spoken and often seemed emotionless to others. Today, his eyes seemed to be a dark ocean blue instead of sparkly baby blue. Midorima pushed his glasses up and sat in the chair place in the corner, "I have roughly an hour before my shift starts. If you're okay with it, I'll stay here and go over last night's operation and test results." Kuroko gave him a slight nod which was reassuring. Opening the file in his hand, Midorima went over last night's events.
Kuroko POV
It was dark, cold, and windy outside almost as if the world could feel how I was feeling. I could hear Midorima talking but I couldn't understand a word he said. Not that it matters, nothing matters knowing that I meant nothing to the man I love. Midorima started talking about why he took some tests and the results, " -Egnant but otherwise everything seems normal."
I frown and turn towards him, "Wait...what did you say?"
He sighs, he never liked having to repeat himself, but he said it again, "You're 2 months pregnant but otherwise everything seems normal."
I shake my head as I start shaking, "That can't be right...your tests must be wrong."
"I received this report before coming in here, it's correct. If you don't mind me asking, does Akashi usually help you with your heat? When was your last heat?"
"Y-yes he does, now that you mention it...I think it's been about 2 or 3 months ago."
"How do you want to handle this? You'll start showing soon."
I blink rapidly as the tears blur my vision as I gently rub my stomach, "P-please...don't tell anyone...I'm...I'm not ready for anyone to know...."
He gets up and gently places a box of tissues in my lap before sitting back into the chair while gently nodding. I blow my nose as I stare down into my lap. This would have been such great news; Akashi and I have been talking about starting a family for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, it seems that he didn't want to wait on me and Furihata beat me to it. It looked like he was already 5 months pregnant. I cry harder realizing; I endangered my baby and now I'm homeless and pregnant. My life is a complete mess, and I don't know what to do anymore. The tears slowly stop as I begin yawning. I lay down as let out a huge sigh staring up at the ceiling.
Midorima gets up from the chair and stands behind my beside. I glance up at him as he pulls the blankets up underneath my chin. "You're exhausted, get some rest. Page for the nurse when you wake up, okay?"
"Okay..."
"Are you up for guests? Aomine is worried about you. He might bring Satsuki, I'm not sure."
"Mhm, they can come. Not Akashi.... please."
"I'll do everything I can to make sure Akashi doesn't come near you. You have my word. Get some rest." He gently runs his thumb across my cheek before quickly pulling away and turn the light off heading towards the door. It was comforting, although I never expected that from him but I'm too tired to care as I fall asleep quickly.
Midorima POV
I sigh heavily once the doors closed. I can't believe I just did that. It was just the heat of the moment, that's all...right? I look up at the clock over the nurses' desk, it's 9:15 that gives me enough time to call Aomine. I leave a note at the nurses' station telling them to call me when Kuroko wakes up before heading to my office. I close the door and call Aomine.
The phone rings for a few seconds before an exhausted Aomine answers, " Ah, Midorima, how is he? Is he awake? Will I be able to visit him today?"
"He woke up early this morning and I came in early since he wasn't doing well. Nothing dangerous but I think everything that's happened has sunk in, he's depressed. I went over the details of the operation, by the time I was done he was tired and went back to sleep. He said he was alright with visitors once he wakes up again. However, you sound just as exhausted as he did. Did you sleep at all? "
"That's good to hear at least. I couldn't sleep last night. I couldn't get the picture of Tetsuya out of my head. It...wasn't pretty. I've seen some horrible stuff but never to someone, I knew personally. It hits you differently. I'm also angry about everything."
"I understand. I can recommend you a psychologist if you want to talk out with someone more professional."
"Ah, yeah thanks. That would be great actually. Send me a text if you don't mind. You haven't called Akashi, right? You can't let that asshole near Tetsu. He'd probably bring Furihata too and act all high and mighty with that "I'm absolute" personality of his."
"I wasn't planning on telling him anyway. Besides, Kuroko already stated he didn't want to see him. I'll try and make sure he doesn't go anywhere near him. I gave Kuroko my word. I have to get going, my first patient will be here in 5 minutes. I'll text you when Kuroko wakes up and the psychologists' number."
"Alright, thanks. Bye."
"Bye."I hang up the phone and get ready for my first patient
