The voices in the room were loud, filling his ears. Even then he couldn’t block out the one voice he’s been trying to for years.

“This is too many people in one room, we should leave before it becomes too much for you.” It said, as if it cared about it’s host.

“It’s a birthday..I can’t just leave the room, people would notice.” He spoke back, the knife in his hand getting heavier as he stared down at it.

“Well then can we hurry this up? I’m getting tired of sitting here.” He sighed, sliding the knife through the cake, people cheering as they watched. He closed his eyes as the cheering continued, giving him a headache.

“You should get out of here, go to your room and forget about it.” He shook his head as the cheering calmed down. Standing from his seat, he handed out pieces to the people around him.

“Why do you care so much about leaving these people, they aren’t your friends, they’re barely family.” He ignored its words as his parents hugged him tightly, his drink slightly tipping in his hand.

“Happy birthday baby! God you’re 24 years old now, where did my baby gooo!” His mother spoke loudly as she pinched his cheeks a little too hard.

“Mom could you not right now...I’m just not in the mood.” He spoke up, pulling his mother’s hands away from his face.

“Aw did someone forget to take their medication? You're being so sour, what’s wrong?” His mother spoke in a high-pitched voice, irritating him.

“Please leave..” His mother only laughed as if it was a joke, then walked off, talking to the rest of the family. His father handed him a box, a gift. He hated getting gifts, he felt guilty for taking things from people, he hated feeling in debt.

“It’s just something small Hongjoong, nothing much. I know you needed this.” His father spoke as he pushed the box into his side. He sighed before taking it and opening it quickly, just to get it over with. A small toy sat in it, he lightly laughed at the sight.

“A fidget toy? You think I need one of these?”

“I know you need one..you have problems kid, you pick at your lips and skin. Just take it.” He nodded, shoving the toy into his pocket and throwing the box onto the table.

“Thank you...can you guys leave now..? I have work tomorrow..I just want to get to sleep..” His father frowned at his son’s words but nodded.

“We’ll leave soon..just try and have fun.”

“Yeah okay..” He said before leaving the table, walking off the bathroom and locking the door behind him.

“This is too much for one person..” He spoke to himself as he slid down the door.

“You could just force them to leave, there’s no harm in getting a little aggressive.” The voice spoke, soon showing up in front of him, leaning against the wall as it looked down at him.

“Being aggressive isn’t the right thing to do right now...if I hide out in here for the rest of the party they’ll leave me alone.” He spoke as the voice sat next to him.

“Come here.” It said as it patted its lap. Even though he knew it didn’t care for him, he still laid his head on its lap, allowing it to caress his head.

“Listen to me Hongjoong, you need to stand up for yourself, I’m getting tired of having to listen to you complain about how tired you are after gatherings like this.” Hongjoong sighed as he closed his eyes, just listening to the words it spoke. His eyes soon shot open when he heard a loud knock on the door.
