Fall of 2022 freshman year of Spelman. It ain't nothing like a HBCU. Seeing some of the sororities and fraternities stroll, couple of tents up to where many are advertising their clubs and also a few food trucks out aswell

"Smell that? Smells like freedom to me bitch." Jaycee says as she nodded her head in approval and put an imaginary piece of hair behind her head

"Girl not so much for me. You know my parents got look out for my brother and I. Can't even go to college to get freedom." I say as I rolled my eyes

"Welp sounds like a you problem cause bitch I'm trying to find the hood niggas. Where the hood niggas at!?"Jaycee says out loud getting a few people's attention and I nudged her arm

"Jay, why are you so loud? You're gonna have these people kicking us out before we get to our dorm." I say as I straighten the box that was in my hand and kept walking

"Whatever Jewel. Anyways speaking of your parents how did they take you and your brother leaving for college." She asked me and I sighed heavily

"Girl dramatic for no reason."

This Morning-8:26 a.m

"My babies Blake, they're all grown up." My mom says as she held my brother and I in another 30 minute hug and my father shook his head while he pulled her away from us

"Nicole let the damn boy and girl breathe. You're acting like they're not 30 minutes away from us." My dad says as I rolled my eyes to myself

My parents are always over the top. From pageants, to school plays and more. My brothers and I were always those kids that stood out due to us having over the top parents but we truly appreciate them.

We're very blessed and well off. I wouldn't want my life to be any other way

"Mommy we'll be fine. Like daddy said we're only 30 minutes away."

"Right sis, she acting like we going abroad." My brother says as we laughed together

My dream college was Howard University, and my brothers was North Carolina Argucultural and Technical state university. but my parents refused to pay our tuition if I didn't go to Spelman or if my brother didn't go to Moorehouse. And my mom said due to her being an alumni at Spelman she would prefer for me to go there. So here I am, packing all my stuff to go to a campus that is only 30 minutes away.

"I still don't understand why you couldn't go to Howard. Your dad is an alumni there aswell, right?" Jaycee asked me as we walked inside the entrance to Manley Hall
