"Come on, you gotta tell me what's going on," Christina's best friend, Emma, begged, leaning in closer, her eyes wide with curiosity.
Christina took a deep breath and recounted the unbelievable events of the past night. "My mom, Daisy, and their dad, John, are getting married. Can you believe it?"
"you mean, John Grey? father of Lucas and his brothers?"
"yes."
Emma's jaw dropped. "Seriously? That's... wow, that's huge! And Lucas and his brothers are okay with it?"
Christina nodded, her thoughts racing as she tried to make sense of it all. "Yeah, apparently so. They actually seem happy for their dad I suppose."
Emma leaned back in her chair, arms folded, contemplating the implications. "So, what does this mean for you and Lucas? Are you guys cool now?"
"what do you mean?"
"You know, like, now that your mom is marrying their dad, you're going to be stepsiblings. It's gotta change things, right?" Emma said, her voice filled with excitement.
"why are you getting excited about it? i swear, i can't accept the fact that i will be having five stepsiblings"
Emma grinned mischievously. "Well, you know what they say, the more the merrier. And let's not forget, Lucas is included in that number. Plus, think of all the drama you'll have to tell me about!"
"why are you so content about Lucas? what's going on?" Christina asked
Emma, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you liked him?
"WHAT? NO WAY! NEVER!"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes i am. i want to ask you some questions."
"Ok, shoot." Emma said with a smug smile.
"i have heard a lot of rumors about them, to be honest. Are they accurate?"
"Which rumors?" Emma's smile grew wider.
"Stop with this smile. i know you like James."
Emma's expression didn't change. "What can I say? James is probably the most charming of the bunch. Plus, he's got that whole 'bad boy' vibe going on."
Christina rolled her eyes. "But that's just it, Emma. They're all so... different. How can they all be okay with this?"
Emma shrugged. "Maybe they see it as a new start for their family?"
Christina frowned, unconvinced. "I don't know. It just seems too perfect."
"Okay stop this. what rumour were you talking about?"
"you tell me. what do you know about them?"
"Well, you know, the usual stuff," Emma replied, her cheeks flushing a little. "Lucas being the golden boy, Justin with his mysterious past, and James, who's apparently the bad boy of our school"
"But are they true? I need to know what I'm getting into." Christina said with a hint of amusement.
Emma leaned in again, her eyes glinting. "Well, Lucas is definitely the star of the school - smart and athletic He's the kind of guy that makes you want to be a better person just by being around him. And Justin... yeah, he's got some stories. He's pretty closed off, but when he does open up, it's like a whole different person comes out."
Christina's eyes widened. "What do you mean by that?"
Emma leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Remember when he transferred here quite years ago? No one knew anything about him. But once you get to know him, he's had his fair share of... adventures, let's say."
