The Tower was abuzz. She was out of it for a while the first week or so but finally, it looked like her body had stabilised and gotten right back to its normal, slightly colder than normal temperature as well. They were all celebrating having her back and she was happy to be with them, again, of course but she still couldn't help how hard it was to fully feel the energy when one of her main reasons for fighting through it all was nowhere to be seen.
Everyone noticed. Even Hank from his new ranch, via videocall, asked her why her eyes were puffy and she was going to explain her body was still re-adjusting but he guessed it was Jason. She couldn't find it in her to say much, after that. He nodded when she uttered that she had to go, knowing he had messed up mentioning the kid and signed off with "I'll be seeing you, crazy niece, I'll have to come visit soon now that you're back". Emily smiled softly at that, shocked that he still remembered when she called her the crazy uncle of the family. It would be nice to have him back, again. Then everyone would be together... Except for one, of course.
She noticed Gar staring forlornly at Rachel as she playfully shoved a smirking Rose and took a seat next to him, wondering what had happened between them. He instantly engulfed her a hug and she giggled, knowing he was going to be incredibly affectionate for a while since it had been an entire year since she 'died'. When her father said time worked differently between their dimensions, he really wasn't kidding.
"You should go talk to her, you know." Gar widened his eyes at Emily, muttering something about change but she didn't bother listening, she just used a cold wind to push him in Rachel's direction and eventually he walked the way on his own, forcing a smile. The smile melted away to form a real one as he gazed at her. How had he gotten so lucky to have had someone so gorgeous be his in the first place? Rose was already getting uo when he approached, sending him a discreet nod. That left Rachel was on her own and deep in thought based on her little pout and slightly scrunched brows so he decided to start from there and let things flow however they would.
"Hey, you okay?" Rachel nearly fell off the couch from shock, looking up when Gar smiled warmly and placed a hand on hers to shoulder to steady her. The delicate gesture had her flustered but she quickly took a hold on herself. "I get that today might be a little much... Honestly, I feel the same and you look a little overwhelmed right about now. Just wanted to check on you, hope you don't mind."
"How can you tell?"
"There's the slightest crease between your eyebrows. It's small but it's there. Might want to relax all your face muscles, that would help with getting all the tension out." She did as he said, awkwardly shrinking away from his touch. "Oh. Right. Sorry."
"I didn't mean to... I mean, it was a reflex... anyway, no, yeah, that was a little scary. And hearing Emily talk about having to choose between finally being with her parents and us? That was terrifying. Would you come back?"
"My parents... That would be something. Would you?"
"My parents were both evil and are both dead, Gar."
"Okay, yeah... But like imagine them being the opposite of that." Rachel stared at him with wide eyes, bursting out laughing when he immediately gasped at his own words. He was embarrassed but at least it got a laugh out of her. "Shit, I'm so, so sorry!"
"It's fine, it's fine. I'm pretty sure I'm not able to. Right now, I can travel to different dimensions for now to keep the peace and the likes but being half-demon I belong in that realm and this one the most. Besides, I can't exactly die, only this body can and it would take a lot to destroy my soul."
