In Y/N's battle he faced an opponent using a crustle, unfezant and electabuzz who he defeated with just Gyarados.
In Ash's battle his opponent used a Darmanitan, chandelure and flareon which he defeated using only oshawott and boldore with the former surprisingly evolving into dewott.
Virgil defeated his opponent who used a lilligant, whimsicot and sunflora using only his flareon and glaceon.
Dino defeated his opponent who used a bisharp, escaviler and exadrill using only his druddigon and a fraxure who evolved into Haxorus mid-battle.
The next day was a day off as they wanted the trainers to have a relaxing day before the semi-finals. Y/N and the gang went on a day of relaxing as they went around different stores buying stuff. However, near the end of their day of relaxing Y/N asked Iris if she could have a talk to him in private. She said yes as cilian and Ash left to the casteliacone stand
