Louis walked into the store, clean and good smelling, and grabbed a basket, headed for the water bottles.

He got the biggest, yet most affordable, one he could find, putting it in his basket.

Then, he headed for hygiene products, getting a small tube of toothpaste, a single toothbrush, and a small stick of deodorant.

He also got a small, travel size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Then, he went over to the cereals, getting coco puffs, of course.

He also got a small sandwich in the deli section, and a lemonade.

Then, as an after thought, he went over to the bags, and got a bag with more room and more pockets for the new things he'd need.

He smiled at his basket, that was now full of supplies that he would need to live a little more comfortably, and headed for the check outs.

He chose a self checkout, and right when he got there-

Your soulmate has given you: 15 dollars

Now, Louis had 73 dollars!

Louis grinned like a mad man as he checked out.

He scanned each item, placing them in the paper bags the store had provided.

The total came out to 57.31, and Louis was super grateful for his soulmate at that moment.

Louis payed for his items, taking the two bags, his own bag on his back, and headed for the park.

Once he got there, he checked his wallet.

He still had 15.69.

He transferred all of his belongings to the new backpack, putting his food in his old one, along with the old water bottle.

He told himself that, later, he needs to get a pillow.

He eats the sandwich and has the lemonade for dinner that night.

-

The next day, Louis sits in the park drinking the last of his coke, and eating some of his coco puffs for breakfast.

He hasn't had breakfast in so long, he usually just drank water.

He was thinking about his soulmate.

He pulled out his wallet, from his backpack that was under the bench.

He took out five dollars, and closed his eyes, sending it to his soulmate.

He smiled so happily as he continued eating his cereal.

He wished he could meet his soulmate.

What if he lived across the world? What if he was a criminal? What if he was in the mafia? What if- oh God, what if he wasn't a he?

Louis hates to think about the possibility that his soulmate was a girl.

Though, maybe his soulmate was both.

What if they were neither?

What if when Louis meets them, they don't like him?

What if they break Louis' heart and leave him, and never give him even a penny more of their money, and Louis ends up at square one again?

Louis starts freaking out, so he decides to quit thinking about his soulmate for now.

Instead, he packs up his things, and goes on a walk.

He carries the two bags on his back, as he walks along the sidewalk.

He doesn't know where he's going, but he stays conscious to not stray too far from his park.

If he ever lost his way there, he's sure he'd start sobbing and freaking out - that park had been his home since he first became homeless.

And it has the gym near by, the library near by, the store near by, and also a Dunkin donuts, which he liked going to at night to get some of the donuts they throw out at the end of each day.

He doesn't get them every night, because he doesn't want to get sick.

Because if he gets sick, he won't be able to go to the doctors, and he doesn't want to die.

It's terribly hard in the winter time, staying healthy, but he's managed for five years.

So he can manage longer.

Later, once he gets back to the park, he sees a squirrel on his bench.

He looks at it from afar, studying the way it stuffs whatever it's eating into the side of it's mouth, before scampering off, up into a near by tree.

When Louis gets to the bench, there are little crumbs left over from the squirrel, and it makes Louis smile.

He doesn't disturb the crumbs, and instead, sits on the other side of the bench.

-

Louis lays facing the back of the bench, his back to the outside.

The wind is very heavy that night, and he feels the dirt brush against the blanket that's keeping the cold air away from him.

The metal of the bench helps to keep him warm, too.

He uses his new backpack as a pillow, and keeps his old one at his feet, between his legs and the back of the bench.

It takes awhile for him to fall asleep that night, because the ground is so hard and the wind is scary.

He covers his ears with his hands, pulling the blanket up over his mouth, just below his nose, and curling up on himself more than usual, curling his toes in the socks.

He hates the wind.

-

The next morning, he drinks water and eats more coco puffs for breakfast.

He feels happy, content, for the first time in a long time.

Once he begins feeling full, he puts away his food.

Then, he takes his deodorant out, and applies that to his armpits.

He packs up his bags and heads to the library.

When he gets there, he fills his two water bottles up, before going into the bathroom.

He gets his toothbrush and toothpaste out, applying a bit of toothpaste to the brush, before he begins cleaning his teeth.

His gums bleed, but that's understandable since it's been so long since he's brushed his teeth.

He tries not to irritate them too much, and focuses on getting his tongue and teeth scrubbed clean.

There's a lot of plaque, but luckily it didn't harden on to his teeth like it does when it dries, since he swishes his mouth with water as much as he can.

His teeth are stained yellow, and he hates how they look, but hopefully after he starts brushing regularly, he can get his teeth to brighten up over time.
