Your Friend, Nagito (c h a p t e r 1)

Your on your way to Hope's Peak when you meet your friend, Nagito. You've been friends with him since 3rd grade and since then, you guys have been there for each other. You guys always give something to each other the day you met him. Like a little, anniversary every year! It doesn't matter what you give Nagito though. He'll always keeps it no matter what from a piece of paper to a jacket. Now, today's the day.

"Hey Nagito!" You say from behind the pale boy.
"Oh, hey Y/N," says Nagito in a sleepy tone.
"Did you stay up again? I'm telling you, you should go to sleep earlier.. I'm worried."
"You really shouldn't worry about a piece of trash like me though..."
"Nagito.."
"O-oh, sorry Y/N.." Nagito said, regretfully.
We walked in awkward silence halfway to school until I mentioned

"So um, I got you something for our y'know, "anniversary?"" You say.
Wait, it's today?? I thought it was tomorrow.." He says, confused.
"Um, yea.. I'm guessing you forgot.." You say, sadly.
So, his illness got worse huh? Dammit...

You didn't realize you were making a concerned face until he said are you ok so, in response you nod.
"I promise I'll remember tomorrow ok?" Said Nagito.
"No, it's ok."
"What? But we always give each other something every year-"
"Like I said Nagito, it's ok! Trust me, ok? And besides you can give a gift to me tomorrow. But of course, you don't have to."

I tightly hug Nagito for at least a whole minute before I let him go and give him his gift.
"Bye Nagito! See you at lunch." You say.
Before Nagito can say anything, you already disappeared into the building.
"Bye Y/N..." Said Nagito, trailing off.
Ah, such a start for a hopeful day..
