Still. Nobody was calm, but neither did anyone move a muscle for what felt like an eternity. Each pelican ready, every man in their station, and yet no plasma flew, no engine roared, no mac charged. Everyone felt it in the same moment, how real this threat was. Nobody aboard was a stranger to danger but this was danger on another level.

Something bad was about to happen.

Comms roared to life "Covenant cruisers in range! Frigates, charge your macs and fire on the Center Ship!" Called out the admiral. A nameless one nobody had time to get acquainted with.

The 2 ODST's leaped into their stations while Spartan Paula calibrated the target for the mac. It wouldn't matter where on the ship they hit, as long as it penetrated the shields, but Paula wanted to focus on the command deck of the cruiser to ensure if a round DID penetrate the shield, it would be stuck lifeless in space.

Spartan Bronana stood in the doorway watching from beneath his visor. He was here to learn and yet they moved with such efficiency that he could barely keep up. Every spartan learned about these sort of protocols, however much of it gets lost of years of doing other work.

The hum of the charging mac round grew louder before the hammer slammed the anvil in the cannon and shot it's shell, vibrating the whole ship in doing so. Each frigate fired close together creating a barrage of mac rounds that violently attacked the main ship. The shielding flaring up indicating that these 3 shells seem to have already nearly broken the energy shield.

Pelican two-------

Spartan Shrimp wasted no time launching into the pilot seat of the pelican. All engines whirring to life and sending the code from his tac pad to open up the pelican bay doors. Pelican one raised up beside them as both pelicans launched out the energy shielded doors.

"Listen up Bravo! We're the best which is why we're doing the heavy lifting. We're going to get in, fuck their core up and get out. There's no need to do anything extra!" Spartan Dragon said with what seemed like enthusiasm. The Sanghelli tilted their heads but nodded understandingly.

"Fortunately their shields seem already damaged. We can get in undetected if we go from the bottom. They seem to be occupied with the frigates." Spartan Shrimp said while also concentrating on the controls. Surprisingly no plasma was flying yet.

Pelican one broke formation and started gunning at the shield before disappearing out of sight from Shrimp and Dragon.

White light darted through space and the shield popped like a bubble. At this point the Covenant had regained their wits and the smaller cruisers formed up as a shield from the mac shells. The plasma and regular turrets were now firing at the frigates while the main cruiser retaliated from the mac blasts.

"It looks like the first shell popped the shield and the other 2 shot through the ship itself. Our job might be easier if the shells shot through the weapons computer consoles." Shrimp noted as they flew in towards the engine end of the ship.

Pelican one-----

"Jesus! They could at least tell us if they're going to shoot out of the sectors. That last shell almost clipped us!" Commander Kibbles shouted out navigating the pelican now a little shaken up.

"Relax Commander, They have our tags on their displays. when they fire, if they were trying to kill us they would have succeeded." First Sergeant Ice said while tuning his plasma launcher. The hangar was fast approaching. Only purple seemed to be emerging from it.

"Shit! This is going to be rough!" Kibbles said, realizing that the purple emerging from the hangar were phantoms. He maneuvered the pelican to collide with the exit point of the phantoms, colliding directly with the newest one trying to exit. Together both ships created a force to reckoned with as they collided into many more ships creating a cluster of purple with this poor green bird in between them all.
