"Is it really going to work?" Bronana asks, leaning against the seats of the pelican.

"It has to. I believe in your handy work. I wasn't here for it, but Lieutenant Dragon told me of the night you spent adjusting every piece of this ship. We're going to use it." Kibbles says, his voice carrying a decisive tone.

"Thanks Commander" He says simply. Taking his weapon and loading it into his seat. Outside the pelican, Shrimp, Dragon, Strike, Ice Cold could be seen, with Scourge pulling up the rear.

"We'll drop out of slip any moment now. Shrimp is going to take us to the massive drone. Afterwards we fight like hell and hope we can figure out how to turn it towards the Carrier."

A silence hangs in the air between all the Spartans.

"This is really going to be it huh?" First Sergeant Ice Cold asks, the question turning to more of a certainty. Dragon looks out the back of the pelican, her grip on the top bar tightening.

"Yeah. I didn't want to lose anyone else, but if this mission goes south, then we really don't have any options." Her icy tone hanging in the air.

"Believe me, if there were any other way.." Kibbles leaves the statement in the air too, in a seemingly growing collection of statements all revolving around the very obvious truth. Death was looking at them with hungry eyes today.

_____

The frigate finally emerges from slip space, the rupture seemingly capturing the attention of the outermost ships. Their weapons nearly instantly finding their target and firing at the frigate. The thrusters engage to the fullest extent and the whole frigate darts to the supercarrier.

With the distance rapidly closing the outer ships are getting desperate. Their plasma bursts turn into green clusters turn to lasers. The frigate is getting torn up into pieces and finally collides with the super carrier in 2 main pieces. The mac cannon with most of the upper deck and the command center, and the main body housing the thrusters and vehicle bay.

The Shipboard AI ignites the mac cannon as is collides with the super carrier, eliminating the whole left portion of the ship, the side conveniently facing the glassing drone.

____

"If I make it out of this, I doubt that I'm going to get another frigate" Kibbles says, watching out the back window of the pelican. The Frigate causes enough fuss to allow them to slip undetected to a border of the glassing drone.

"Ah, it'll be fine. They can't keep me from stealing more of their shit" Scourge says, holding his shotgun tighter as the Pelican makes contact with the seemingly unwatched platform.

"Language!" Dragon calls out, her visor pointed at the Spartan II.

"Did.. Did you really just say language?" Ice Cold says while laughing. The pelican bay doors open and Shrimp steps out of the cockpit, into the middle of their conversation.

"Just the humor I needed before getting brutally executed. There's no way we're getting close to the control room of this thing" He says, bringing up a map of the drone he stole from the battle net. The hologram shows hallways and gravity lifts, all with varying levels of security. The control room seemingly at the bottom, and they landed towards the top.

"What if we walked on the outside, our magnetic boots should allow us to climb down to a much lower level, the escape pods should be an easy entrance" Kibbles points alongside the map.

"All sealed behind blast doors"

"No engineer hallways?"

"None, fleet doesn't carry them"

Shrimp counters, the rest of the team taking their time to look at the map. Scourge finally steps forward.

"We can override my Spartan Laser to continuously fire until the core itself melts, which should allow it to fire enough to burn through that glass at the control room and suck any covies out. We walk in and use the control panel and reorient the drone from there."

Silence. Shrimp has no counters. The map checks out, a quick look at the density of the glass confirms it's little more than reinforced, meaning the melting trick would work.

"Right, well if there was ever a time to move, it would be now" Kibbles says, taking the first step out of the pelican. Looking down the side towards the bottom where the control room was supposed to be. They had a long ways to walk.
