The day dragged on forever and i was so grateful when the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day.
I was leaving the school with Cole on one side and Amber on the other with Austin at her side. I glared at him but he just laughed and grabbed Amber's hand. Stupid prick
"Let them be." Cole whispered in my ear, his warn breath sending chills down my spine. I looked over at him and his face only centimeters from mine. We stopped walking and stood in the hallway gazing into each other's eyes. His lips were so perfect and pink. They were so kissable. As if sensing my thoughts he leaned in and suddenly we were interrupted by a young girl screaming my name. I turned to see Victoria, my sister's friend, running towards me. I stepped back away from Cole, Feeling my cheeks heat up.
Victoria stopped in front of me panting "She.....she......he.....he's...."
"Breath. Now who's she and who's he?" I asked knowing this had to be so urgent she had ran all the way from the middle school across the street.
"This guy named Jack is bullying Summer. He keeps saying really mean things and Summer's on the verge of crying. They're in the hallway." She said in a rush.
Oh no, no one picks on my baby girl, I thought. I broke away from my friends and burst through the doors of the school. Across the street I saw a crowd of people in the middle school parking lot.
I saw a tall boy towering over my sister, yelling in her face, and I felt myself turn into the Hulk. I walked straight over to the guy and yelled "Hey you!" He turned with narrowed eyes, watching me stomp right through the busy street and towards him.
I stopped in front of him, only slightly out of breath. Hey, I have athsma. I'm not that out of shape.
The boy was a bit taller than me and big, but I honestly wasn't the least bit afraid of him. "Yeah, you. That's my sister you're picking on." I said.
"Yeah? So what?" He dared with a cocky grin on his ugly face.
"So you better back off before you leave here with a broken nose," I retorted angrily.
"Do it, I dare you." He provoked.
So, I walked straight up to him and was so close to punching his face when a firm hand grabbed my arm. I turned and saw Cole standing behind me holding my arm, his eyes soft. "He's not worth it." He told me. Amber and Austin were behind him, Amber looking furious. I might not have gone through with punching him but she would in a heart beat.
I hesitated. "You're right." I said looking back at the bully and kicking his shin as hard as I could, which was pretty hard, considering I'm a dancer. I said he wasn't worth punching, right?
While he was bent over in pain I ran over to my baby who was standing behind him with her friend by her side, crying silently. I grabbed her and pulled her into a big hug, rubbing her back and whispering "shhhh" and "It's okay" to try to calm her. Cole was standing beside me waiting patiently for her to be calmed.
When she was calm I grabbed her hand and led her out of the school. Amber was waiting by her car and I led Summer to the car. "Amber, will you take Summer home for me? Nicole and I have some arrands to run." Mom had left us a list that morning, and as much as I'd love to go home and stay with Summer, there was no way I was testing my mother. She could get crazy.
Seeing the sad look on Summer's face her face softened and she sighed. "Okay." Then her and my fragile baby girl got in the car and were gone, leaving me and Cole standing alone in the parking lot.
He looked at me with longing in his eyes. Stepping closer he said, "Now, where were we?" I smiled and looked up at him, heat rising to my cheeks and my heart racing. He leaned down and grazed my lips with his. It was a shy and sweet kiss.
His lips were soft against mine. It was like we were the only two people in the world. He wrapped his arms around my waist, I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him.
Until we were rudely interrupted by a honk of a car horn. Startled, I jumped back and looked over to the area where I heard the noise and saw Nicole sitting in her car leaning back as if she had been there a while. I could feel my face turn bright red with embarrassment. She gave me a huge grin and started laughing. I looked over at Cole and I could tell he was embarrassed. He had his head down trying to hide his face behind his hair but I could still see the redness on his face. I smiled, realizing I wasn't alone. I walked over to him and kissed his cheek then ran off to go with Nicole to run some errands.
"I'm guessing you had fun." She said still grinning. I smacked her arm playfully saying, "Shut up". Then we started running errands.
