Life's a Game, Isn't It?

Namjoon was pressed up against me, only a couple of inches separating his chest and my own. He leaned down low to speak and I couldn't help but feel small next to his much bigger frame. The circumstances felt to intimate for such a public place and memories of Namjoon's wet, naked body flashed through my mind. His cologne wafted around me and encompassed all my senses, it smelt so good, like nothing I've ever smelt before. I was finding it harder to stay focused and I wondered if Namjoon was aware of the effect he was having on me.

"My sense of smell is useless with so many people in such a small space. If he is here I can't sense him at all."

The room around us was loud but Namjoon's voice was clear and unbroken in my ear. The music and sounds of the party had known their place and hadn't dared to interfere with Namjoon's attempt at speaking. I used his voice to ground myself, deciding to focus on the sound instead of the million other things circling about the club or the dark desires that had begun to whisper in my ear at Namjoon's proximity.

I had already figured Namjoon's sense of smell wouldn't be of much help here. Hybrid's may have superior senses but they weren't superpowers, they had their limits. Although I already knew Namjoon wouldn't be able to sniff the other hybrid out, I was hoping he would have some other way of tracking him down. I couldn't shake the bad feeling that gripped me since I decided to visit Sin and the underlying anxiety thrumming through me begged for an easier solution to finding the bunny hybrid than scouring the multitude of people who occupied the club.

Putting my own unrealistic hopes aside, I nodded in agreement. "We'll cover more ground if we split up. You take this side of the room and I'll take the other. Meet back here in fifteen minutes whether you find him or not."

Namjoon glanced over to the area I had assigned him before letting his eyes meet mine once more and taking my hand in his own, giving it a light squeeze. "Don't worry, we'll find him."

I exhaled and returned the squeeze. "I know."

He smiled before letting my hand fall from his grasp and making a direct beeline for the bar. I was left dumbfounded, staring blankly at his retreating figure. Were my attempts at comforting him throughout the night for nothing? It was obvious to me now that I wasn't hiding my own unease from him as well as I thought. How silly I must have looked telling Namjoon to relax while being filled with the same amount of stress. I wondered if Namjoon would always be able to see right through me before filing it away as a mystery for another time.

He made no effort to push through the mobs of people as they parted for him naturally, as if they could sense his dominant energy and were avoiding any head on confrontation. I made a mental note to find out if it was another byproduct of presenting as a True Alpha. The more time I spent with Namjoon the easier it was to take notice of his hybrid qualities. However, even if I did catch a glimpse of them it was almost impossible to attribute them to his wolf counterpart or something that was just inherently him.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the same treatment from the club's participants as Namjoon did. I found myself slipping through and manuevering my way through the crowds, dodging elbows and barely escaping being stepped on with an eight inch heel. Throughout all that I checked every Sin employee in the vicinity for the big doe eyes that were unique to the hybrid with no luck.

After what felt like ages I had searched the entire area and hadn't stumbled upon even a trace of Jungkook. Although, I had run into more than one crying drunk and an entirely too enthusitatic dancer demonstrating their own choreography. I took a seat at one of the empty tables and exhaled, rubbing a hand down my face. Consciously, I tried to release the tension that gripped my body but without much success. I was beginning to think I would have to live in a constant state of worry until I knew all seven hybrids were together and free from harm.
