It Started with Apex Legends (a YourNarrator story)

Time to start up another round of Apex, I thought to myself. My life is pretty mundane. It's the same thing day in and day out. Watch the two boys while the parents are at work, do a couple house chores, play apex in the mean time, record and stream the games of Apex, so on and so forth. But don't start to think I'm a big streamer or anything because I am far from that. I only have two hundred followers on twitch so that would make me a small streamer. No one knew the name I was trying to make for myself but for now, that's alright, I'm just in it for fun.

"Why does this game like to-" before I could go on yet another ramble of how the game takes forever to connect to a match, it finally connected. "Of course when I start bitching about it is when it connects. Anyway stream, let's see if it gives me a partner this time!" I laugh to myself considering the past few rounds, the game put me into duos by myself. While waiting for the character selection screen, I went to see who was lurking in the stream and decided to thank them while the game was loading.

"Thanks to those of you who are viewing and lurking! It really does mean a lot to a small streamer like myself!" I gave the camera a smile before looking back to my screen. "Oh wow it actually gave me a partner this time guys." I read over my team mates name. "Your Narrator. Why does that name sound so familiar??" I said to chat once again even if no one was talking. Before I could say anything more, a deep voice caught my attention.

"Uh, hello? I see you have a mic on but muted. I just want to let you know that I am streaming this so I hope that's okay! But don't feel pressured into talking! It's completely fine if you don't."

The deep voice had me shook to say the least. With slightly wide eyes and my mouth slightly agape, I turned to the camera with utter shock on my face. "Oh my god... um wow. Did not expect that. But let's turn on our mic yeah? This guy seems nice enough!" With a deep breath and some confidence I found laying around, I unmuted my mic. "Well hi there Narrator! First I want to say you're the first teammate that I have gotten whose actually nice, well from what I can tell, and second I'm streaming as well! Warning though, this game has me cussing like a sailor." I laughed at the pure fact of that statement.

"No worries there... Caroline. I served some time in the military so I think I've heard it all." He let out a chuckle just as the Character selection screen finally popped up. I noticed his cursor was hovering over Bloodhound.

"Love that you said my name right, a lot of people say it wrong." I laugh but quickly point out that he's choosing Bloodhound. "Ah I see you're choosing my main. Better not disappoint me Narrator!" I can't help but to let another laugh escape as I choose zippy boi Octane, just so he knows I'm not being completely serious.

"Oh she said don't disappoint me. Okay let's go then! Game on." I laughed at his response. It's been a very long time since the game gave me a teammate that I actually like, most of the time my teammates would drop, get knocked, and then leave. Or at the end the would turn on their mic to talk shit to me even though I would last longer in the game than they did. "Okay, we're gonna drop in fragment west. We're going to go in, kick some ass, and come out champions!"

"Oh I love your energy. It's poorly placed but I love it nonetheless." And with that began our first of many rounds playing together.

Roughly three hours later and we were still playing together. Throughout the past three hours we've had many laughs and many times where each one of us would shout, "WHY AM I ALWAYS THE TARGET!?". Let me tell you when I was the first one to shout that, Narrator simply went, "you too??". It was comforting knowing I wasn't the only one that constantly got targeted while playing this game.

"I have about one more game left in me before I have to do a recording with some friends of mine. But before this next match I do have a question to ask you. It's something I ask almost every streamer I come across."
