Chapter 3

I don’t know why I said that I’d take him shopping. Maybe I felt bad for him, just didn’t want him on my laptop,or maybe I just wanted to go shopping, but I definitely regret it now. Here I am driving down the road singing to my favorite song ever, 21 Gun’s by Greenday, when my song is rudely changed.

“What the hell?” I ask him pulling my ipod out of his hands.

“I was just going to put on a good song.” He said with his hands up in surrender.

“Never, ever, touch my music, especially if I’m singing to the song.” I said.

“Whatever bitch.” He said sitting back in his seat.

I continued to drive in silence all the way to the mall, which by the way is about 45 minutes from my house. It was slightly awkward, but I wasn’t going to break the silence and just start another argument.

I pulled into a parking space and put the keys safely into my purse. “Ready?” I ask him getting out of the car.

“Whatever.” He says walking ahead of me into the mall. Oh, great, this is going to be all awkward.

“What store do you want to go to first?” I ask when I catch up to him.

“Who said I’m shopping with you, I just needed the ride here.” He said smirking.

“That’s true, but you also need my card, and I’ll be damned if I give it to you.” I said.

            “Whatever bitch.” He said.

We walked around for twenty minutes before he found a store he wanted to go in.

“We’re going in here.” He said walking into Hot Topic.

“Good because I was actually going to make you stop in here anyway.” I said walking in and going the opposite way as him.

I need school clothes anyway, and this year, I’m going to completely change who I am. No more little nerd girl. I got rid of the glasses and the super frizzy brown hair. Now I have contacts and red and white hair that’s layered and cut jaggedly. I must say I look much, much better now. I doubt anyone is going to recognize me when school starts again. The only person out side of my family that has seen my new look is Mariah, I haven’t even updated my facebook picture. I want it to be a surprise to everyone, including my boyfriend, Ryan, who’s away with his dad in England for the summer.

Not only do I plan on changing my hair, I also want to change the way I dress. Usually, at school, I would wear something like you would wear to an office, or I would wear sweats, but this year I’m changing that completely. No, I’m not going to change into even more of a prep. Actually, I planned on getting rid of all of my pink in my closet. This year I’m going to go for more of a hard look. Skinny jeans and band tee’s seem appropriate.

I walk over to one of the clothes racks and start searching for new clothes when I feel someone behind me. I spin around only to come face to face with Dimitry.

“You shop here?”  He asked seeming surprised.

“Yeah, can I help you?” I ask him getting annoyed.

“No, just surprised is all.” He said walking to the other end of the store.

In about a half hour we check out with arms full of things for both of us. Thank god Dad put extra money on my card for the past couple of months knowing I’m going to need school clothes. We ended up spending $796.38 in that store, but I don’t regret it one bit. My senior year of highschool is going to be as different as possible.
