I was at my apartment alone, wearing an oversized hoodie and leggings. I was in the kitchen making a sandwich, when I heard the doorbell. I left my food where it was and headed to the speaker.

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me."
"Oh, yeah, c'mon up."

I pressed the buzzer and let him in. I opened my apartment door, leaving it open as I walked back over to the kitchen counter. While I resumed back to making my lunch, I heard the door shut and Jack called out. I answered. "In here." I looked up from the counter as Jack strolled through the doorway in his hoodie and jeans.

"Hey." He walked around the kitchen island towards me. "Ooh, whatchya making?" He grinned at me.

"Just a sandwich...here" I sliced my sandwich in the middle and offered him half. He smiled at me and picked it up.

"Ah thanks, I'm starving." He said, before taking a bite.

"So...what's up?" I asked him.

"What do you mean?" He responded in between bites of his food.

"Like, you've come here for a reason, yeah?" I let out a small laugh.

"Well, yeah. To see you." He said naturally with ease. I bit my lip to stop the smile forming on my face, looking away from him. He finished his sandwich and continued talking. "So you got any plans today?"

"Nope. Just a boring old day. I mean, you walked in to find me making a sandwich heh...so no, definitely don't have any plans." I chuckled, after finishing my lunch.

"Well you do now. With me." He grinned.

"Mm...ominous." I smirked at him, letting out a small laugh.

"You.. are too suspicious." He joked, pointing his finger directly at me. "C'mon, we're getting outta here." He gently grabbed hand and guided me to the door, picking up my hand bag along the way.

"What's wrong with in here?" I teased.

"Shut up." He played along.

(Time skip)

We got back to my apartment, laughing with each other after spending the day together. We went for a walk in the sunny weather, bought drinks at the cafe and talked for hours.
I placed my handbag on the side table, as Jack shut the door behind us. I moved closer to the living room sofa, turning to face him as I did. He slowly followed, both of us still talking and laughing. Once the laughter had died down, I asked him a question.

"So, what was today about then?"

"Sorry?" He responded, confused.

"Well, like, you came here and we didn't...plan to spend the day together. So why did you-"

"Why is it so hard for you to believe that I just wanted to see you?" He interrupted, asking genuinely. I shrugged my shoulders, letting out a weak laugh to brush it off, as I looked down at my hands nervously. Jack approached me, getting closer. "I wanted to spend my time with you. I'm sorry if you didn't...enjoy your day, I ju-"

"What? No. That's not what I meant. I had a really nice time. For a day with no plans, it was pretty good." I chuckled. He laughed a little too, smiling at me, relieved. "I'm not asking why you came over, as if I wish you hadn't. I was asking 'cause... I'm an idiot and automatically assume the worst." I let out a fake laugh, feeling vulnerable as I knew it's what I do. Jack got even closer to my body, looking down at my hands, slowly taking mine in his. He softly touched my fingers as he stood before me, before interlocking his with mine and lifting his head to look at me. He gazed into my eyes as he spoke, his voice low and raspy.

"Sometimes things really are simple as they appear to be... Sometimes things aren't too good to be true."

"Jack what are you doing?" I asked naively in a quiet voice, his body near to mine.

"I. Am...hoping that this is one of those times." He brought his other hand to gently hold my chin, leaning down to me. He was inches away from my face, as his lips hesitated in front of mine. He lingered for a short moment, our lips barely touching. Slowly, Jack moved in closer, pressing his lips against mine creating our first kiss. He took control as our lips moved against one another's. He pulled his hand from my chin and placed it on my waist, while he removed his other hand from mine and steadied the side of my face. Eventually we separated from the kiss, maintaining only a small gap between our faces. I couldn't help but keep my eyes down, processing what had just happened while Jack stared at me adoringly. After a few short moments, I brought my eyes to meet his as we created a little more distance between us. Jack slowly brought his hands to hold mine while he gazed into my eyes. I was the first to speak.

"I knew you were after something from me." I whispered, smirking while I teased him. Playing along, his wide smile spread across his face and he let out a small laugh, rolling his eyes slightly.

"Well you got me, I've been after that since I met you." He said still beaming, flirtatiously laughing.

"In that case, you should have come over uninvited sooner." I chuckled, flirting back while I continued to tease him. He casually moved his hands to my waist again as he dropped his head back, laughing with me.

"Damn. Uninvited? That's harsh." He laughed as he leaned in to kiss me again, both of us smiling till the last possible second before our lips touched.
