Freak?!
Superpower?!
Us?!
"That is a terrible way to word it, Klaus. Awful way to word it, actually," Luther offered, crossing his arms.
"Oh Lord, what now, Luther?! Are you going to pout because I called us all freaks? Because that's what we are, Luther. Utter freaks!"
Klaus was adamant about his point.
"Okay, I'd love to hear this conversation carry on, but maybe we can stop right here and I can ask you what the hell you mean by superpower? If that's okay?"
Excuse Josie's sarcasm, but she's really confused right now.
"Do you not know what a superpower is?" Five asked, returning Josie's sarcasm.
Josie didn't like that. "Yes, I know what a superpower is, but those were things you'd find in comics! I do not live in a comic book, and there is no such thing as a superpower!"
Little did Josie know how wrong she was about to be.
In almost the blink of an eye, Five created a ring of blue light and seemingly phased through it. It was the quickest action, and Josie didn't even have enough time to comprehend it, because he phased back right next to her.
She was speechless.
Diego unsheathed a knife of his, which made Josie severely nervous. What made her even more nervous was how quickly Diego decided to throw that knife right at her face. Josie felt as though she didn't have enough time to react, and she didn't, but what she did have enough time for was to see the knife curve when it was inches away from her face. It went right back to Diego, who caught it and sheathed it again.
Klaus began talking to no one. Josie wasn't sure if that was a superpower or a regular occurrence.
While Josie examined Klaus' babbles, Luther hoisted her up.
"Luther!!" she yelled, but before continuing, Josie noticed that Luther did so without a grunt or complain. It was almost as Josie weighed nothing to him. This became evident when she was thrown across the room.
Of course, Josie shrieked at the sudden launch and braced for impact, but was somehow caught by someone.
Five.
"Wow, you really are light."
Little son of a bitch.
Grumbling her disapprovals, Josie pushed off of Five and stood on her own two feet, giving both boys the stink eye before turning to Allison.
"I... I don't use my power. And Vanya—"
"I don't have one." There was that monotonous voice again that sent chills down Josie's spine. It was scary and unnerving. Almost robotic.
And so, Five phased in front of Josie, which scared her. "Do you believe us now when we say superpower?"
Josie nodded. "Yes. Yes I do."
"Good," Five responded. "So what's yours?"
Why was Josie continuously caught off-guard here? "What?!"
"Your power," Klaus added. "What is it?"
"How am I supposed to know?"
"Well I don't know, Josie, it's kind of common knowledge to have," Diego stated.
"I didn't even know superpowers were real until two minutes ago! Why would I know my own?"
There was a silent pause once Josie spoke, which consisted of the six looking back and forth at one another.
"Good point," Luther confessed.
Was it terrible to say that Josie felt pride in beating this highly dysfunctional family? Probably. But it was a wonderful feeling.
"I suggest you get some rest, Josie," Five began, "because we have a journey to embark on tomorrow
morning."Journey? Already, Josie hated it here.
"Where to, Mister Five?"
"You'll find out tomorrow. Now clean yourself up. You look like you slept in a pig stein."
She hated him. Oh, she hated him so much.
