She need to be strong, just for a little time... she can feel him weakens and she can't do anything. If she just listened to her father who was the town doctor, teaching her about medicine, she can treat him now.

He was so weak as his arm hangs on her shoulder, their breathing were short and ragged. When the small hut was in sight, she feel the courage in her. Yelping as the boy's arm slips from her shoulder, "P-please..."

She hurriedly open the door, dragging the boy who weakly stands before closing the door to stop the coldness comes inside. Placing him on the bed, covering him with warm blanket, "Uwaa... aaahh..." he breathed out. It was painful to watch. After taking a deep breath, she turn to Johann then scanned her eyes around, finding that there's no food left.

"J-johann... could you take care of him.. while i-i'm away?" she said, caressing Johann's head and glancing to the boy laying on the bed.

"I'll just.. s-search for woods... and f-fish.." she stuttered, hugging Johann before walking to the door, looking back at the boy and Johann as tears escaped her eyes.

"Wait for me..."

It was night, and she didn't return yet. What if something happened to her? Johann walked towards the boy, sadness in his eyes as he stares at the weak boy. The boy turned to him, feeling the wolf's stare, "Haha, what's with that face?"

"You should've go with her..."

They waited... two days. Two days of waiting.. she didn't showed up.

———————

It's already night.

She shivered, blood stained her clothes. Cuts from every parts of her body. She need to go back there... as fast as she can. She smiled softly as she already saw the hut, forcing herself to run until a thud was heard from inside. Panicked, she dropped the bundle of woods and three fresh fish as adrenaline rushed her. Slamming the door open, she saw the boy laying on the floor.

"Chair.." the boy whispered. She quickly helped him stands and make him sit on the wooden chair. He's getting worsed. And she's not beside him for two days and one night.

Crouching down in front of him, hands on his knees and looking up at him, "H-hey... I'll.. c-cook something r-right now... so just w-wait.." she sniffs, lowering her head down, leaning it on his knees. She regrets leaving him. "P-please..."

He panted and nodded slowly, even if she didn't saw him, "Okay.."

Standing up, without sparing a glance at him, walking towards the furnace. Picking the pot up, tears hitting it. Her cries getting loud as he spoke, "You see... if- if I'm sleeping... when they all come back.." turning his head to the wolf and the trembling back of the girl.

"That would be... embarrassing, right?" she nodded, using her strength to stand up. Eyes staring at the boy, getting on her knees in front of him, she sighed. He spoke again, "Determination... is what.. makes me cool."

Shutting her eyes close as she nodded, tears racing down her cheeks. He want to wipe that but couldn't. The boy avert his eyes from the girl to Johann, "Johann..." back to the girl, for the first time he was asking for her name, after all the time they walk, talk, eat, laugh and sleep together, he finally ask for her name even if he didn't really ask with words but she knows...

"y/n... I'm y/n" she answered, making him smile.

"y/n.. I have a request to make of the two of you.." he said. She raised her head, their eyes meeting as she reached for his gloved hands before intertwining it.

"Don't ever... forget about me." he said, smiling at them before leaning back his head as he let out his last breath.

She squeezed his hands, biting her lower lips not letting out a little whimper. His thighs now wet from her tears.

How could she forget him?

She lost another person she cared so much. She lost him... like she lost her family. She lost him without even helping him achieved his wish to live in the beautiful and warm place. What she imagined... would never come true.

She were trembling.. mad at herself. She lost her new and only hope.

Crawling to Johann, hugging him as she let out the sound of sadness. They just met for a short time, but it hurts like they knew each other for years.

A tug from outside causes him to fall from the chair, she let Johann out of her arms feeling he were going to the boy's body while she hugged her knees watching his action, sniffing now and then.

Johann sniffs his hair and bite his hood, trying to stand him up. she avert her attention to the rope tugging him, confused. She hesitantly crawl to the door, hope rising inside her. Hoping there's someone out there who would help them. But as she were going to open the door, she heard Johann crackled.

Whipping her head around, confusion in her eyes before it widened. Johann's hands and body were now like the boy until it also copy his face.

"You..." ignoring the former wolf or whatever it was. She runs to the true one. Gripping his shoulder to force him to stand and placing him on the chair before  looking at the standing boy.

"J-johann..?"

He isn't Johann nor the boy.

The unknown creature take a look behind to the girl as she smiles.

"Go for now... But don't worry. I promise, I'll find you."

He nodded slowly before turning his back and leave the house. The girl turns her attention to the not breathing boy beside her, "Let me be with him for a couple of days."

"Let me mourn for my lost."
