Please accept my apologies for the extended delay on this project.
As I've failed to increase my reads on Wattpad (This book got less than 10% as much as my previous one and that only got 22% as much as the one before that), I've been coming up with a new plan and doing a huge amount of research. There were two reasons for me joining Wattpad and I'm not achieving either of those anymore. Like all writers, I'm looking for readers but I also value the feedback from readers. That rarely happens these days.
I'm not yet ready (quite) to accept that my writing is terrible so I'm working on the assumption that my marketing is terrible. Having completed many marketing courses, books and accepted a great deal of advice from other (more successful) authors and not made any headway, I've been looking for a different way to progress.
The conclusion I've come to is that one of my problems is my choice of genre. The majority of literary agents state "No Science Fiction" on their submission forms and I know many sci-fi authors, some much better than me, who cannot sell anything.
It's clearly time to ditch science fiction for a while and try something else. I will come back to Behemoth sometime in the future, but I'm not sure when. I apologise to the thirty people who have been reading it but, if I ever want to do this full time, I need to either sell a LOT more books on Amazon etc., or I need to get traditionally published.
It seems clear neither of those is going to happen while I stick with science fiction. I've got to be more strategic with my approach.
Consequently, I have written "Rise of the Witch Queen", a light-hearted fantasy novel which, while a complete departure from anything I've written in the past few decades, is revisiting where I originally began writing almost 40 years ago. Now I am working on the sequel which I believe to be the best thing I have ever written. Wish me luck!
