Chapter 42

Destiny POV

"Destiny can you stay after class?" my English teacher asked me. I nodded my head and continued to do my work.

Soon the bell rang and everyone left except me.

"I wanted to talk to you about your grade in here. You went from have an A to a C. What's the problem?" he asked me.

This surprised me. I've always been a straight A student even when I was younger.

"Um, I don't know what the problem is but it will be fixed." I assured him. 

"I sure hope it does." he wrote a pass for my next class.

I took it and rushed down the hallway.

While walking I saw Rome. I haven't talked to him in a while.

I started to past him but he called my name so I stopped.

"Damn, it's like that? You can't even say hi to me?" he shook his head.

I didn't say anything, I just put my head down and thought about the last time we talked.

"I know we had a argument the last time we saw each other and I said some foul shit but you know we gon always be cool." he said.

I nodded my head in agreement.

"Whatchu doin' Friday?"

I finally looked up.

"Nothing." I answered and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"Let's go get something to eat after school then." he suggested.

"Rom-" i tried to call after him as he walked in the same direction I came from.

"Meet me at my car." he cut me off.

I just went to class after that.

"Are you excited about tomorrow?" I asked Jay at lunch.

Tomorrow was the day the DNA test would come back.

"Hell yeah but I'm kinda nervous." she said.

"Nervous about what?" Rocky asked and looked up from her phone.

"What if I'm not good at being a mother." Jay looked down.

"Look, I ain't gon' lie to you. It's not easy being a mom especially a teen mother but you'll be fine. You helped me when I first had Kai." Bristol said.

"Exactly." I told her.

Before she could say anything else her phone rang.

"I gotta take this." Jay got up from the table.

"So, how's you Smoot?" I asked Bristol.

She shrugged.

"We cool, I guess. Y'all know his ass is getting on my nerves but that's my baby."

"What's with Macky?" Rocky looked up from her phone.

"We're great. He's been really sweet." I smiled thinking about him.

"But what about Rome?" Bri whined.

Lately she's been hoping me and Rome would get together.

"What about him? He's doing him and I'm doing me." I shrugged.

"I think he's a good guy even though what he did to you was shitty." she rolled her eyes.

"Rocky back me up on this." I looked at Rocky for help.
