Chapter 1: Bell

        Ow. Light fell on his ass and damn did it hurt. "Ack! Sorry! You okay?" A female voice spoke up. In English. He looked up at her confused as she held out a hand. He took her hand and stood up.

        "I'm okay." He replied. Also in English. Light looked around and then back to the girl. He wasn't in Japan, everything around was in English, no Japanese anywhere. Judging by the girl's accent, he was either in Canada or America. Maybe Mexico? Who knows, somewhere in the west. But how the hell did he get there? You don't just walk across the street in Japan and suddenly end up on the other side of the world.

        "A-Are you lost?" The girl nervously asked as Light checked his pockets for his phone.

        "Yeah, a bit. If it's not too much trouble for you, can I use your phone to call my parents?"

        "Sorry, I didn't bring it with me" She answered quickly, "You know, you look an awful lot like Light Yagami from Death Note, are-" She stopped when she looked up at him. His eyes were widened. "Sorry! I um, didn't mean to offend you.. I thought you were cosplaying maybe.." She nervously looked back down.

        "What do you mean by 'from Death Note'?" Speaking of Death Notes, where the hell was Ryuk?! Wasn't that apple addict supposed to be following him at all times? 

        "It's an anime and manga.." She spoke softly, so as to not upset him. This was news to Light. He was Light Yagami and now he's suddenly part of an anime? The anime's name is even 'Death Note'! Nothing is making any sense! Whoever this girl is, she's mental. No wait, he had to be dreaming, this is not normal. Should he play along? Maybe it's just some crazy coincidence? No! It has to be a dream, you still don't wake up in another country after crossing the street. It isn't possible at all! "C-Can I help you in any other way or um..?"

        "Yeah, can you answer some questions I have? Well since I'm lost that is, haha. What's your name?" Even if this isn't a dream, she may be part of L's taskforce and trying to trick him into revealing something. She said he looked like 'Light Yagami' from 'Death Note' for crying out loud. But no, wait. Maybe he was dead? Now that he thought about it, he remembered a car coming his way before everything went dark and he fell on his ass here.

        "Isabelle but people usually call me Bell." She answered hesitantly, "What about you?"

        "Funny you ask because of your comment earlier, but my name actually is Light." He replied.

        "Oh, uh, okay! So um..." Bell trailed off, hoping he would continue the conversation.

        "Do you know where exactly I am?"

        "Washington D.C, do you know where you need to go..?" Washington D.C? That's in the U.S, isn't it? It's the capital? So maybe he's not dead? This whole situation is so confusing. "Maybe if you're okay with it, I can take you to my house and get my phone from inside for you to call your parents..?"

        "You could be trying to kidnap me." Light pointed out.

        Her eyes widened, "OH- no no no, I didn't mean it like that! Not at all, I'm sorry! You don't have to come to my house, I-I shouldn't have asked."

        "No, it's alright. You should be more worried about inviting a stranger into your house and something happening to you. No offense but you are quite small." This girl is too trusting, that's for sure. It could be an act.

        "Oh yeah you're right! Okay then um.. how about you wait outside my house and then I bring the phone outside? That could work?"

        "Yes, that'll work. On the way there, can you tell me more about 'Light Yagami' and 'Death Note'? It sounds interesting." Light asked.

        "Okay sure!" Bell started to walk in the direction of her house with Light following behind. "So, Light Yagami is one of the main characters from Death Note. The other one being L. In the beginning Light picked up this thing called the 'Death Note'.  The 'Death Note' is this notebook that can kill people if you write down their names. To avoid killing people with the same names, the person writing has to imagine the person's face in their mind when writing down the name. Uh, does that make sense?"

        "Yes it does, don't worry." Stay calm, stay calm. This is just some coincidence. Or dream. Or something.

        "Okay. So, Light decides to kill criminals with it and becomes known as 'Kira'. Light thinks he's doing a good thing by killing criminals. Then the L guy that I mentioned earlier doesn't think that Kira is doing a good thing. So he plans to arrest Kira and put him to death. L is the world's greatest detective. There are 37 episodes in total and 12 manga books but in my opinion the second half of the series is better in the manga but the ending-"

        "Do you agree with Kira?" Light interrupted.

        "Huh? Oh uh also we're here." She replied, caught off guard. Maybe she shouldn't have helped this guy? Oh god, what if he's an obsessed cosplayer and 'Light' isn't even his real name?!

        "Do you agree with Kira?" He asked again as she got her keys out to open the door.

        "Um, it's complicated? Sorry, I'll get my phone. Wait out here please!" Bell headed into the house and shut the door behind her. Just get the phone, let him call whoever. She quickly came back out and handed him the phone with it already on the number pad.

        He stared at it confused once it was handed to him. What the hell is this? This doesn't look like a phone. Maybe it's a new model? Some weird American thing? Possibly. Oh well. Light called his parents' number and held the 'phone' up to his ear. It rang for a few seconds and then..

        "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. Please check the number and try your call again."

        Light blinked. Not in service? He checked if he had made a mistake with the number, he hadn't. What the hell? Wait, maybe.. "Hey, what's today's date?"

        "Oh uh, December 19th!" She replied.

        "Year?" He looked away from the phone and down at her.

        "2019...?" Bell trailed off, confused. Maybe this guy was in a coma before? No, they would've told him at the hospital the date when he woke up.

        Light's eyes widened once more. That would explain it. 16 year difference? 'Death Note' being an anime and manga? The plot being the exact same as what has happened? Him being in the U.S after being hit by a car? Him being a character? Ryuk not being here? It makes sense, doesn't it? Or does it? 

        "Is something wrong..?" She asked.

        "Look Bell, I'm Light Yagami. The real one."

Pure luck, he got in a coma. Brought her everything she ever wanted. But then he was taken away from her, she had to follow him back and she did. She watched it hit. But was it all worth it?
