When I finally looked out the window the sun was about to disappear over the mountains and the lanterns in our compartment had turned on. "It's getting dark, I think we should change." I told them. They all agreed so I made my way to the girls bathroom. I finished Changing into my school robes, it looked like a english private school outfit except for the long cloak that we wore for warmth. When I got back the boys were all in their robes. They had the same sweater, shirt, tie that I did, they wore pants instead of skirts. It was a lot quieter now and the sky outside was dark. Lysander and I were sitting on the ground watching Fawkes play. Lorcan and Hugo were talking about classes and playing chess.
"Did you know, Phoenixes make a Heartbond?" Lysander asked.
"What is that?" I asked.
"Well it is when a phoenix makes an metaphysical bond with another living creature." He said. My confusion must have shown because he continued. "It is when they replicate the creature they have connected too's heart and feel the emotions that the other creature feels."
"Wow, How did you know that?" I asked. Both off the twins are smart in there own ways Lorcan loves books and Lysander loves learning about animals.
"My mum told me." He answered. Lysander learns a lot from his mum and dad. They are magizoologist.
"Can they connect with more than one creature?" I asked. I was thinking about Dumbldore and his connection with Fawkes.
"Phoenixes are very loyal creatures but if the creature that they connected two die's they are not connected with them anymore but they are still loyal. If a different creature earns there trust and loyalty then they will create a second heartbond." He answered. We talked until there was a noticeable slowing in the speed of the train. We all collected our things and packed them in our trunks. When the train came to a complete stop we started to shuffle out. I almost tripped over a toad that was hopping around our feet. When I walked outside I heard a very familiar voice.
"Firs' years over here Firs' years," It was an enormous Hagrid holding a lantern. Hagrid is a close family friend and teacher at Hogwarts. The four of us started walking up to him.
"Hello, Hagrid." I said.
"Oh, Hi Lily an' Hugo, Lysander, Lorcan." He said. Now addressing the group of first years. "Come on all yeh, firs' years follow me." We all followed in a clump of people. We went down the street and through a line of trees until we made it to rows of boats sitting in a cove of a lake. "Four person in each boat," I climbed into a boat and Lysander, Hugo and Lorcan. The boats started to move slowly by themselves.
"Have you seen the moon?" Hugo asked. When I looked up my eyes filled with the light of the moon. I was surprised I didn't notice it before because it was the most full moon I have ever seen. The sky was filled with thousands of stars and every star was reflected in the lake. The boats each left a trail of ripples behind them making the stars and the moon blurred. We turned around the corner and rows of huge cliffs appeared with a giant castle tower over the lake. I was amazed by the giant building and I started to feel nervous about the sorting. We floated across the lake until the boats slowed down and we went into a secret cave going under the cliffs. The green from the lake reflected on the ceiling then all the boats came to a stop on the edge of the cave. We walked up to a marble stone staircase and we kept climbing and climbing until we made it into a dungeon-like area where we climbed up more stairs into what I assumed was the Entrance Hall. The hall was huge and Had large front doors with several locks on the other side of the hall. There was a staircase and what looked like doors to a different hall or wing. Then Hagrid motioned for us to stop.
