Chapter 1

Well, here I am. The name's Cato-Corey Purdy, and I'm 21. I pretty much look just like my father, Ashley Purdy from the band Black Veil Brides, but I don't have the tattoos that he does... In fact I'm yet to even get one. I'm absolutely nothing like my mother, except for the fact that I have the same level of hyperness as her.

The funny thing about being in a coma, no matter how deep you're under, you can still hear what's going on around you. Well that was the case with me. You see, one day I was out on my motorcycle on the way to see my girlfriend and as I pulled out at a green light, some dickhead at a red one pulled out and knocked me straight off. I saw my life flash before my eyes [surprisingly I'd barely done anything] before my body slammed off the ground and I believed myself to be dead.

My mom was sat in the hospital room beside me, along with my girlfriend Emily Biersack (daughter of Andy and Stacey Biesack). My father, however, was not. After about two days, he left to do some sort of reunion tour with his band. Oh well, I guess his dying son wasn't important to him. Today would be two months since my accident, and I was still on life support, and I had a strong feeling my mom would be given the idea to turn it off and accept the fact I wasn't going to wake up anytime soon.

As soon as I thought about it, I heard the door open and heard a voice that was all too familiar, and all too saddening.

"Mrs Purdy and Miss Biersack," the doctor spoke in a very monotone voice, which was kind of annoying. "We think that since it's been two months and he's showing no signs of improvement it might be a good idea to just turn off the life support." I heard the two of them gasp.

"I couldn't do that doctor," my mom tried to speak calmly. "He's my son, I'd be basically murdering him... Anyway, I couldn't make the decision without my husband."

"Well, we need a decision by the end of the day.. Either yes it's turned off, or no and the son is left hooked to the machines, and we wait longer." I heard my mom scoff.

"I told you. I can't make the decision without my husband!" The doctor tutted.

"Well then call him and get him here." I heard the doctor leave, seeming annoyed.

"Mrs P, what the hell are we going to do?" Emily seemed genuinely worried, my mom sighed.

"I have no idea. I can't really make Ashley make a decision now without even seeing him before they turn the life support off." I heard her sniffle. "I need to get Ashley here but I know he left his phone by accident..."

"If you want I can call my dad and ask him to get all the guys here?" I heard Emily's sweet voice. Oh how I loved her voice.

"That would be great Emily, thank you."

I heard the door opening and closing, which signalled that Emily had left. I suddenly heard my mom start screaming and crying [basically having a breakdown]. All I wanted to do in that moment was run and comfort her but unfortunately my body wouldn't physically let me.

After about an hour of my mom having a breakdown [Emily had walked in half way through and started to comfort her] I heard the door swinging open, and the sound of multiple footsteps could be heard; my dad and his band was here.

"Oh my god! Alex!" I heard my dad's voice and he presumably hugged her. "How are you, and most importantly, what's happening with Cato?" My mom sighed.

"Ashley, I'm fine, but Cato isn't making any improvements and they basically want us to turn him off today." I heard my dad wimper slightly.

"But, you can't do that, right?" Andy spoke up.

"We might have to Andy..." What? How could my mother say she might have to kill me?!

"But, surely you wouldn't do that to your son?" Jinxx and Jake spoke at the same time.

"He's my grandson, do I not get a say?" My mom sighed at CC.

"Look guys. Do you really think he's going to wake up any time soon?" My mom spoke and I practically heard my heart break. "He's been hear two months and isn't showing any sign of improvement!"

Well wasn't it nice to know that your mother had basically given up on you? I swear she needed to just decide. I mean, 'yes' or 'no' aren't too hard to come up with. Then again, I wasn't too keen on the idea of dying but, maybe someone else somewhere needed life support. I wish I could just wake up and make everything the way it was; just how it used to be. This was ocassional tours with my dad and spending the rest of my time making my mother feel appreciated and Emily feel like a godess.

"Mr and Mrs Purdy. I need to push you for an answer now." I heard the doctor and knew what was going to happen. I started screaming at my mind to just let me wake up and live again. I felt like I was pinned down and started struggling against it, something which I had not yet tried.

"Well," my father spoke. "We might as well turn him off, someone else might need that space to help them."

I continued to struggle and heard a strange noise. I didn't know what it was, but it continued the more I struggled. The footsteps of the doctor which originally seemed to be coming closer suddenly stopped.

"Mr and Mrs Purdy and friends, I have a feeling he's waking up, but can't fully. He may need something he can remember as a memory to fully bring him back." A  few moments passed.

"Saviour." Emily spoke up slightly shyly. "It was always his favourite BVB song." I would have smiled if I could have.

Suddenly, everyone in the room started to sing at once. It was beautiful [except for my grandpa CC being a bit out of tune] and it made me want to cry, so that was what I did. I felt a tear run, and my instinct was to wipe it away so I didn't look like a sissy, so that was what I did.

My body seemed to be awakened by the signing which was kind of weird, but I was extremely happy. Finally, my eyes flicked open and I looked to see my mom, dad, granpa, the doctor, Emily, Andy, Stacey, Jake and Jinxx looking at me weirdly. I just weakly smiled and went to speak but the doctor put his hand over my mouth.

"You're not allowed to talk yet. You need to drink a lot of water over the next hour and then you can." I nodded and looked at all the people stood there. Suddenly, a bottle of water was thrown at me by my dad which I fortunately mananged to catch, and drank almost instantly.

I had to admit I was still in pain a little, but that's expected after being thrown off a motorcycle at 70mph. My throat didn't really feel too bad, but I guessed I'd be better off listening to the doctor. I was hugged by my mom, then my dad, and then the rest of the band, before Emily practically crushed me in a hug. I smiled and sat up at the opposite end of my bed to where I originally was, and let Emily get up to sit beside me, resting my head on her shoulder and spending an hour drinking water.

"Cato-Corey Purdy," I looked up to see the doctor in the doorway. "You can speak now." I nodded.

"Thank you." I sounded pretty normal considering how long I'd spent silent. "So guys, how have you all been?"
