Dodging cops and burning blocks,
'cause we be thugged out

July 8, 2018

Michael pulls into a gas station called El Derado, five miles away from the Santa Ynez mansion they'd left from minutes ago. Pulling out two crisp twenty dollar bills from the duffle bag in the backseat, Michael holds out the money for Yalayla who takes it from his grasp.

"Go pay for the gas while I pump. Make it quick."

With a soft okay as her response, Yalayla exits the car and makes her way through the door of the store then up to the register to see a hispanic guy with his back facing her, engrossed in the small television resting on a stand attached to the wall.

"Excuse me." She attempted at getting his attention.

She rolled her eyes and refrained from saying something smart or yelling at the guy as if he didn't hear the door chime indicating he had a customer in the store. But what caught Yalayla off guard was when her eyes connected to the small screen to see not only herself but Michael as well-mugshots that she knew they've never taken a day in their lives-on CNN.

"These two suspects have now been placed on a search warrant for two heinous crimes against First Republic Bank and Bank of America. They were last seen leaving the scene of the crime yesterday afternoon in a gray Charger. They are definitely the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. If you see them, do not hesitate to report their whereabouts to the authorities. Cash reward is up to half a million dollars. Back to you Robert."

Jernard wasn't lying when he said they were making headlines. Yalayla and Michael were now the most wanted couple in the state of California so she knew she needed to speed up the process with this gas situation.

"Excuse me!" She raised her voice this time and the guy swiftly turned around, but with a stunned expression playing on his features. He'd realized who was standing before him. "I need forty in gas please. On pump three. Thank you."

The cashier's eyes were burning like fire through her to the point it made her slightly uncomfortable being under his intense stare. Yalayla gives him the money feeling him taking it from the other end and try to walk away only to hear his voice from behind.

"Can I have your autograph?"

What the fuck? She thought to herself, giving him a skeptical look. It was strange that he'd ask for her autograph like she's some celebrity.

"I just want your autograph. You can even get the gas for free. Just sign on this twenty right here for me," he told her, searching around for something to write with.
