**The next morning you wake up and do your usual morning routine. Things weren't awkward with Luffy when you woke up so you were relieved. Although it seemed as if you haven't seen much of Luffy for the day, which had you a bit worried about what happened to your "bothersome captain".**

You go to Franky's working area. You're not sure why you chose to look there but you did. He was always so amazed by Franky's work so it could be a possibility. You open the door to Franky's working area and search for Luffy.

"Y/N what are you looking for?"

"Huh? Sorry, have you seen Luffy anywhere."

"I think I saw him out on the deck earlier."

"Oh ok !! Thank you so much !!"

"Your SUPERRR welcome!"

Franky was always an enthusiastic, energetic guy. You could've never imagined Robin falling in love with someone who's the complete opposite of her. . .
You head out to the deck, it was surprisingly quiet and you didn't see anyone in sight. You were guessing that everyone was busy doing there own things. It was rather dark outside, so you weren't able to catch the sleeping figure, resting on the mast of the ship.

"So that's where he is."

You walk up to Luffy, you catch him with his arms behind his head and his hat covering his face. He always looked so peaceful sleeping, you admired him for a bit but decided to leave him alone before he catches you gawking at him like the other times. While walking away you hear the slight whisper of your captain calling out your name.

"Y/N..."

His voice sounded soft and quiet, which is rare for the loud and energetic person Luffy is. You were confused on wether he was sleeping or not. Even so you respond with a "Mmm" sound.

"Come sit with me"

You were embarrassed, you didn't know if he was awake the whole time or not. Either way you do as he says and you take a seat right next to Luffy. His eyes were red and puffy, before you were able to question it, he asks you an unexpected question.

"Do you think i've become strong enough to protect you and the rest of the crew?"

His voice was shaky, you weren't sure how to react. You've never seem this side of Luffy.

"You're an amazing, strong, but bothersome captain. Also, the soon to be future King of the Pirates. You're more then strong enough to protect us."

You saw Luffy's tense face loosen up, and he had a soft grin that left you in aw.

"Thank You, Y/N."

"Of course, Captain."

You guys sat on the breezy, cold deck. Watching the ocean waves and the sun that was finally fully set. It was a cold night, but the moon and stars lit up the sky.

"Luffy, why did you ask such an unexpected and sudden question?"

"I had a bad dream last night, I lost all of you guys. The only thing on my mind all day was Ace. How I wasn't strong enough to protect him when he needed me the most..then seeing the same thing happened again with the only people I have left. I couldn't stand the thought of me loosing anyone else because I was to weak to protect them,.."

Luffy's words shocked you, he sounded so serious and mature. You never expected Luffy to carry such a big burden like that around. He constantly puts up the go lucky, happy, dumb, laid back captain persona. That seeing him think like this and keeping it to himself hurt you in ways you would've never imagined.

"Luffy, you don't have to carry that big burden all by yourself. We are your friend, we all want to be there to protect any one that needs protection. That is why we're all getting stronger, so something like that can never happen. Please don't worry about it, we will never let our captain suffer like that again."

Luffys eyes lit up, and he gave you a big teethy smile. It was obvious that this reassurance helped him worry a little less. Which made you happy, you guys spent the rest of that chilly night talking about anything and everything. Your captains company was the most comforting thing to you, so maybe your captains isn't as bothersome as you make him out to be.

Sorry about this chapter, but I really wanted to include a part where you guys see Luffy as someone more then just the go lucky , happy captain. He constantly feels responsible for protecting the ones he loves, Especially after marine ford. So I wanted to include that a bit in this chapter :) !
