Zayn's POV

It took me some time to get to the bar as it has been quite a while since I had been there. By the time the building, lit up with neon lights and stand out of the other buildings, came in sight, I picked up my pace.

Once I got in, I instantly searched for the familiar face. It didn't take long though, because he was straight at the entrance, chugging a whole bottle of beer.

Even though he was younger than I by some years, he had more luck that I had, also with the permanent times he gets himself drunk. Lucky him, he came out of a rich family so he could do anything he wanted and got away every single time.

"Calum!" I shouted as I went over to him.

"Oi, Zayn!" The black haired guy with blond highlights slurred, before he went on drowning himself in alcohol.

"Cal, I need your help." I started and knew that he wouldn't act right. Either way, he'd definitely guarantee me a place to stay.

"Sure! Shoot it!"

"I need a place for some while."

"Of course! Like, behind the building there are nice girls!"

I rolled my eyes at him and ran my fingers through my hair. Well, this was going very smoothly.

"Calum!" I shouted but all he did was giggle.

"Relax, bro! Take anything you want, eh? It's all on the house" He smiled at me and even though I stood a meter away from him, the stench of alcohol filled my nostrils.

"Oi, Niall! Another one!" He turned to the blond guy behind the counter and moments later I found myself having one of the brown glass bottles in my hand.

"Cheers to life, Malik!" Calum hollered and I sighed, yet did as he wanted to, before swallowing the familiar liquid.

"You said, you need a place to stay?" Calum started again, failing to sit on the stool properly and landed on the ground. Fortunately I wasn't that drunk yet so, I helped him up.

"At least you got that" I remarked and took a sip, bit by bit.

"How much do you have at the moment?"

I cocked a brow at him and placed the beer on the wooden counter.

"I'm broke as hell, Cal. Can't you make an exception?" I begged.

"Bro, just because we know each other doesn't mean that you get everything without paying back. Dad is starting to stop giving me money to spend and I need a budget." Cal slurred and I was starting to wonder if he was seriously drunk or just acted marvellously.

"I'm going to give it back to you, Hood. I'll get a job somehow and I can pay it all back, in a month or so"

The guy's brown eyes widened and he set his beer aside.

"Either you pay me now or you can say Adios! Mum is so short on giving my property to my two sisters! I don't want to end up in rags!"

"Well, I am in rags right now! Is it really that hard to just give me a small room to live in?"

"Get a job and we'll talk, Malik" Calum growled at me before smashing my bottle on the ground, making it break into many little pieces of glass. Since the bottle was still half full, the liquid simmering into the wooden ground.

"You know what? I don't need your goddamn help, Hood! Rot in hell!" I yelled and slung my bag over my shoulder yet again and walked out of the bar. That was just great.

I had nowhere to stay, nowhere to work and surely nobody I could lean on. Karma was a total bitch to me.

It was most likely past midnight and I hugged myself, leaning against a wall of some building. Nights always had to be so chilly, but at least it wasn't raining and clouds weren't destroying the view to the stars and moon on the pitch black sky.

I stayed in that position for several moments and was about to fall asleep, if somebody hadn't poked my cheeks.
