It was a long day for Dr. Eric. People who had once insulted him and said he would not become successful were standing in queue for taking a photograph with him. Colleagues who didn't even care about his existence were calling one by one for offering their congratulations. "Fake wishes. Nobody except my team mates have offered me genuine wishes. Everybody wants to be a part of my success. That's why they are circling my legs. All this attention I'm getting now is because my name is shortlisted for Noble prize."
The Cold winds of February made the entire London City to shiver. The pavements were covered with snow and not a single head was found in sight. The cold never bothered Dr. Eric since his mind was elsewhere. Something was haunting him. He couldn't brush off that thought. Settling himself on a lone park bench, Dr. Eric rubbed his eyes and concentrated on something. He remembered it very clearly. The vision was still fresh and crystal clear. Now it's upto him, whether or not to follow where his vision leads him.
The night was getting darker and colder but Dr. Eric didn't care about anything. His hands were inside his standard collar cardigan and his mind was very deeply thinking about the outcomes of his decision. The eery silence was broken when his phone buzzed. "Where are you? Everyone in the university are searching for you. Tomorrow you have flight for Stockholm. We need to rehearse your Noble prize acceptance speech, and there are a hell lot of other works. Doctor... Can you hear me? Please say something.... Doctor... Doc...". The voice on the other side sounded hasty. " Rachel. I'm very sorry to say this but I am not going to accept the Noble prize. Please don't ask me why." " But sir, your research... Your Thesis... It was a groundbreaking one. Nobody thought about brain synapses from your angle. Your work can create a dent in this universe. Why are you refraining from..." " No more questions, Rachel. Don't waste time searching for me. Tell the others what I said you now. I. Am. Not. Going. Anywhere. "
Eric hung up the phone and stared at the sky. The stars were not visible. He whispered softly in the air. "This is not my purpose. This is not who I am. I didn't find out what I was looking for. I was incapable of finding where the vision originated in my mind. Instead, I discovered some stupid, useless things that amused everyone."
What is Eric searching for? Can Rachel convince him to recieve the accolade? Will the vision lead him to a purgatory disguised as paradise or is it worth pursuing?
Meet you all in next chapter...
