The Stockholm Concert Hall was buzzing with activities. People were running here and there to make arrangements for the Noble Prize distribution. A diploma, a medal and a document indicating the prize money were given to the laureates. Luckily, for Rachel and Dr. Eric, Carlos was appointed to take care of their needs. Dr. Eric and his team were led to the auditorium by Carlos....
The awards ceremony took place in a grand manner. First, literary awards were given, followed by the field of chemistry. Then, economics science awards were given, followed by the field of medicine. Dr. Eric felt thrilled and happy to receive his accolade in front of such a grand audience. Everyone was cheering for him. He silently thought to himself."Rachel was right. This does feel good. I'm picking up on a different vibe.This change in the environment allows me to think more clearly. Now, I have to give my acceptance speech. Breathe deeply, Eric. You got this. "
Dr. Eric first explained about Neurons, Axons and Dentrites. He explained about the Nodes of Ranvier, myelin sheath and the role played by these parts in neuro chemical transmission. He also explained nerve endings and the role of Acetylcholine, beta-endropin, Dopamine, Gamma Aminobutyric Acid and Seratonin in neural communication. The audience listened with pin-drop silence and when Dr. Eric finished his presentation, the whole auditorium burst into applause. Dr. Eric felt so elated and found a new confidence in himself. His speech was also broadcast on television.
After the ceremony was over, Dr. Eric and Rachel went to the city's famous restaurant and ate dinner. The next morning, the team returned home to London. Dr. Eric felt very refreshed and energetic. For the first time in two decades, he actually smiled soulfully. Rachel observed all these things from a distance and felt genuinely happy about seeing the doctor. She wished he wouldn't go back to his old stony attitude but instead stay cheerful like this.
Will this new found energy help Dr. Eric follow his vision? Will Professor Rachel always support Dr. Eric like this?
