The raindrops beat down like bullets on Nick's window. The thunder made it feel as if his bed shook and the lightning lit up his dark room each time it struck.

He felt like a baby.

A scared little baby who was too scared to even unwrap himself from his blankets. He had then tightly tucked under his chin and he was curled into a ball. Tears prickled at the sides of his eyes and he wiped them away harshly, embarrassed to be crying even though no one saw him. He could hear Dream exiting his room from across the hall. He could never admit to Dream just how scared of rainstorms he was. He had told the older boy that they had "freaked him out", but he would never say how they'd sometimes keep him awake the whole night.

Dream filled his glass with water and looked over to the living room window. The blinds were up so he could see the street lights and the pouring rain. He wondered how Sapnap could be sleeping during a storm like this. Even though Clay loved the rain, the thunder had kept him awake.

Clay decided to see if Sapnap was actually asleep or if the sound of the thunder had kept him up too. He set his glass on the counter and walked over to Nick's door. He knocked quietly on it as to not wake him if he had fallen asleep.

Sapnap shot up in his bed. Why was Dream knocking on his door this late? It's not like Dream was scared of rainstorms or anything. "Yeah?" He said just loud enough so his voice could be heard through the door.

Clay opened the door and saw Nick with his blankets all bunched up around him. "Cant sleep either?" Clay said, more of a statement than a question. "Same, thunder is way too loud. Kept waking me up." He laughed quickly and sat down next to Nick.

All Nick wanted to do was fling himself onto Clay. To wrap his arms around the slightly older boy and find some sort of comfort in him. Nick didn't think he was gay, it was nothing like that. He just desperately needed the distraction from the storm outside.

"You alright?" Clay asked, noticing how Nick hadn't said a word yet. Which was very unlike him.

Sapnap opened his mouth to talk, but shut it again, scared his voice wouldn't be steady. He decided to just nod his head instead. A loud bang of thunder sounded and Sapnap flinched. He looked over to Dream to see if he had noticed.

"Oh right, you get freaked out by rainstorms. I forgot about that." Shit, he had noticed. "Here," Dream said pushing himself off of Sapnap's bed and made his way to the light switch. He flipped the light on and went back to Nick's bed.

Dream grabbed the tv remote from Nick's nightstand and turned on the tv hung on the wall. He started flipping through the channels, "We can just watch tv together and try to forget about the storm, alright?"

Dream liked helping his friends. But, with things like this he wasn't the best. He was trying to act normal but to be honest, he had no idea how to handle people's fears. He thought he was doing okay though, as Nick turned to look at the tv.

Dream looked over at Nick each time the wind picked up, or the thunder roared, or there was a flash of lightning. He flinched each time. He wanted to help his friend more, but he didn't know how. There was no way he could stop the storm, so what else was there to do?

They watched all sorts of shows, a few movies too. They did anything to keep distracted from the storm and the feeling of sleep.

The two boys stayed like that all night. Neither of them slept a wink. A few hours after hanging out like this Nick was okay enough to crack a few jokes here and there about the shows they watched.

Dream may have fallen asleep if he was on his own, but he was too worried to leave Sap alone. So, in the end he forced himself to stay awake the whole night. He promised his viewers he'd stream, so he'd just have to push through it without any sleep.

It was morning now, the sun had been shining for about two hours but neither of the boys noticed. Sap was laughing at the point and was acting like himself. The rain was still harsh, but there was no lighting and rarely any thunder.

Dream's phone buzzed and rang. His alarm. "Oh shit. It's morning." He said, grabbing his phone and turning it off. At some point throughout the night, Sap had unraveled himself from the sheets and now they were both sharing it.

Clay flipped the sheets off, "I'm gonna go take a shower and change out of these clothes. I've got to do a stream today too. You gonna be good?" He asked.

"Yeah, thanks. It really helped having you as company during the storm. I didn't really want to tell you just how bad I was scared of it. Thought you'd make fun of me or some shit." Nick laughed embarrassingly. He didn't want to make eye contact, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

"Hey dude, I'm not going to make fun of you for a fear. That's just hitting it low. Like, sure...I may poke fun at you but I don't mean any of that shit." Dream leaned against the doorframe with his arms cross against his chest. "And I especially wouldn't make fun of you for it during a storm as bad as that."

"Yeah, thanks again." Nick nodded as Clay smiled slightly and left his room, closing the door behind him. Sapnap felt almost relieved that Dream knew finally. He didn't have to make up dumb excuses not to go out if there was a rainstorm forecasted that day. He didn't have to hide in his room alone during a storm that could produce a tornado. He didn't have to hide that part of him anymore.

He was so great full to have a friend like Clay. Clay was always there for his friends, no matter what. No matter how down Clay was feeling he was always there for others.

Dream set up his desk for the stream. He decided he could start the stream early then get to bed at a decent time to make up for the lost sleep of last night. When he started the stream, he saw a few people asking if he was okay during the storm. He hoped that they lived in Florida too and not that they were weird fans that checked his weather all the time.

He said how he was okay and then explained that he didn't get much sleep that night so that was why the stream was early. He hopped on minecraft and invited George to come on. He didn't bother with Sap, he was pretty sure he already heard the other boy snoring through the walls.
