Legend's rise: Bluefire's Echo

CHAPTER 2: TRY

Bluekit swiped a paw at Reedlight, who leaped up and over her swiftly. Bluekit whirled around and launched herself at Reedlight's chest, but changed course before hitting to distract her. "Ack!" Reedlight gasped as the 7 moon old hit her face. "Gotcha." Bluekit smiled and dropped off. "Better than last time." Reedlight praised. "Rootstar will have to make you an apprentice when he sees how much better you've gotten." Bluekit nodded in agreement. Rootstar was sitting by the fresh-kill pile with Piketail and Twistclaw. His eyes met Bluekit's with suprise. Bluekit trotted over to him. "You're getting better." He acknowledged. "Does this mean I can be an apprentice?" Bluekit blinked up with hopeful eyes. "I....I dont know. Its just-" he was cut off. "Just what!? You're scared to make me an apprentice because of what happened to Briarkit and hawkkit!?" Rootstar winced, looking hurt. "I'm not them! I'm stronger for a reason! I'll show you!" Bluekit ran towards the camp entrance. "Bluekit wait!" Rootstar cried. Bluekit ran through the small forest and onto the moor as fast as her legs would take her.  She kept running until she knew she was far away from her camp. Trees loomed overhead, and darkness engulfed the entire area. Bluekit breathed heavily. Hssssssss... Bluekit spun around to see where the noise had come from. A snake launched itself at her with a hiss. Bluekit caught it in her jaws. Blood dripped from the wounds on the snake as she dropped it. That was easy....too easy.. bluekit turned. Another snake was slithering out of the bushes, it was much bigger than the other one, and its eyes were locked with hers. It attacked, and like before she caught it in her teeth. Bluekit slung it into a tree. The snake fell to the ground, dead. Hssssssss! Bluekit's eyes widened, she didnt have time to move. Everything seemed so slow. The snake hurtling at her...then, a black and white tom caught the snake and killed it. "Are you alright? Did you get bit?" Hecasked politely, despite the blood on his mouth. "I-im fine.." bluekit took a moment to catch her breath. "I'm Coalpaw. You arent from around here are you?" Bluekit looked up. "No. I'm bluekit of breezeclan." Coalpaw gasped. "You're just a kit!?" Bluekit nodded. "Well..I'm not supposed to be, but my father is concerned about my apprenticeship. You see, my littermates died at only a moon or two old..now Rootstar is scared to loose me too." Coalpaw's eyes filled with sorrow. "I'm really sorry..what are you doing in Shadeclan territory anyway?" Bluekit gasped. "I got that far!?"

                                  POV

How could I have been so foolish!?
Rootstar hung his head. "Corntail, reedlight, piketail, rustleberry, ottersong, echoears, and flipfur. I need you to spread out and find Bluekit." He spoke as calmly as possible. Leave her to die.. said the voice in his head. Rootstar narrowed his eyes. No I will not loose this one too! The voice snickered. You'll pay for that one..how about I give her a little venom to think about? Maybe a few..snakes.. rootstar gasped. Leaping down from the high rock he saw pricklekit and pinekit. The three moon old kits seemed to be worried aswell, but he shook it out of his mind and raced onto the moor. "BLUEKIT!" He cried in panic. She's going to be dead in moments Rootstar. She's already fighting my snakes. Rootstar ran faster. "BLUEKIT!!" His voice traveled across the moor. "BLUEKIT!" He could hear the others calling. She's going to die and it will be my fault.. "Bluekit!" Reedlight shouted. Everyone is looking for a dead cat.. lucky you.. said the voice. She survived my attack. She's with coalpaw of Shadeclan. "I know where she is!" Rootstar cried, causing everyone to look at him. "The voi- starclan has told me! To Shadeclan!" He led everyone across the moor.

"I'm sorry Rootstar.." bluekit hung her head. "You should be. You scared us all!" Rootstar growled. "Because of this, you wont be made an apprentice." Bluekit gasped. "You cant do that!" Coalpaw hissed. "Its not her fault!" Reedlight agreed. Stepping out of the patrol behind Rootstar. "She fought very well against the snakes, and had the stamina to run all the way here." Coalpaw was defending her! "Hmm..fine. I'll make you an apprentice tomorrow bluekit. Dont fail me " Rootstar gave a smile after Coralstar waved to him with her tail. "Thank you father!" Rootstar led them back to camp. Bluekit had her destiny set out now.

Twistclaw: dark gray and black tom with one blue eye and one green eye. Muscular and is the clan deputy.

Coalpaw: black and white tom with green eyes.

Corntail: blonde furred she with white ears and green eyes.

Rustleberry: ginger tom with amber eyes and a scar on his chin.

Ottersong: dark brown she cat with blue eyes.

Echoears: dark gray tabby she cat with green eyes and large ears.

Flipfur: sandy colored tabby tom with amber eyes.

Coralstar: white she-cat with pink eyes who is sensitive to the sun.
(Yes she is albino but it is rare so she may be the only albino I ever create.)
