Chapter Three: Lola
One Month Later
It had been a month since auditioning and getting hired at Saints and Synners. I
swear those pole dance classes and at-home acrobatic workouts had paid off big time. On a
weeknight, I could bring home around five bands. On a weekend, it almost doubled. It was no
secret that I was the star of the night every time I clocked in which is why bitches barely fucked
with me now. Like now, I had just walked inside the dressing room and I swear the energy was off. I hated that I could absorb the energy of others especially negative energy which is exactly what this dressing room was filled with. The room had grown silent but I could tell that I was probably the topic of conversation before coming in.
Some noses were turned up in the air, some people were trying their hardest to act as if they couldn't see me. I found that shit to be quite hilarious considering that I was the only white chick in here and no one could miss me. I think that was the root of everyone's envy. They didn't expect a white girl to get up on that pole and move like that. I went to my lil' booth and tossed my duffle bag onto the counter.
"There my bitch go," I heard Luxury screaming from behind me. Luxury took the empty
booth beside me and plopped her big ass down. Luxury had that same ass that the ex-stripper-
turned-rapper Kash Doll had. I know she got tired of hauling that wagon around, but it came in
handy when you were a stripper. I had seen clients sit whole beer bottles between her cheeks and
she was still able to wiggle her ass as if it wasn't there. I plugged up my wand curler and pulled out my make-up bag before taking a seat myself.
"I can't believe I beat your ass here. Usually, you're already dressed and whatnot."
"I was here before you. I just left out of Dino's office. Word around the club, you be
having people calling to see when you're performing. Even though Dino tell them that he's not
allowed to disclose that, that's what's up. I remember those days my first year here. I never
thought someone would come along and show me up," she joked, making us both laugh.
That's what I loved about Luxury, she had never been on some hating shit. She embraced
me from day one. She was considered a vet here and she wasn't lying about being the star last
year. Between her and I, we were both bringing in the most traffic and the most money. The only
difference between Luxury and I is that she didn't get the hate that I got. I knew it was because
they didn't expect a white girl to come in and dominate in this particular industry but fuck that!
"Girl, it's room for every girl in this dressing room to win. At least we both understand
that, others not so much," I spoke loudly enough where everyone could hear because it was the
truth. You would've thought that I was literally taking money out of the girls' hands with the
way they were acting.
"But it's hard to win when you have people like you invading our space. Damn, we can't
