Neji Week day 5

July 01, 2021

Prompt: Dream

~

Neji had a dream, actually, Neji was sleepy. He sat down for a moment and leaned his head against the wall before closing his eyes and falling asleep almost immediately. That's how tired he was that he did not even have to wait to be in bed or any of the things he did before that were a routine for him. It was not long until the sound woke him up and he got up all at once to head towards the source.

Tenten exchanged a glance with him, her dark circles under her eyes were marked and apparently she had also caught up on a short nap. She motioned to him and he took Hikaru in his arms to try to calm her down while the brunette took care of Hanako. She sat in the rocker to breast-feed her, so he went to the kitchen with the baby to get one of the bags of breastmilk out of the fridge and mimic her.

He had read that the chances of having twins were low and increased only a little if there was a previous history. He had not forgotten that his father had been a twin, but when they found out that Tenten was pregnant initially he had not considered having more than one baby as he was an only child, in fact Hiashi had not had twins at that time either.

Neji was not going to blame fate or something similar, he simply had not counted on the fact that his seed in addition to having the genetic information to inherit the family dōjutsu was also going to have that specific piece of information. Even Hinata had had a child a year before them, ONE child. But there they were, with Tenten they had twins.

At the beginning the brunette had complained of cramps and dizziness, according to her a little more exacerbated, but typical of being close to those days of the month. The following week her discomfort was because she said that the bra was bothering her. She had her routine check-up at the hospital and there they had discovered the reason, she was pregnant.

Although they had been married for a year, Neji had been on a mission that had kept him away for the last few weeks, which gave them an initial approximation of how long she might be.

The problem was that her symptoms were too strong even for a first-time mother and her abdomen had started to grow even before she was two months old, when they were scheduled to have their first ultrasound. It was at this ultrasound that it became clear that there were two babies on the way.

The news took them by surprise. The idea of having two children when they had no experience with babies filled them with almost equal parts anxiety and excitement. When they found out it was two girls they smiled, their happiness at the growth of their family had not disappeared.

No, the happiness that there were now four and not just the two of them had not disappeared, it had just been momentarily pushed aside as they struggled not to faint in the process of raising their daughters.

They were aware that babies cried, all of them did, the problem was that theirs were particularly loud, there were two of them and sometimes the crying of one triggered the other. So they had said goodbye to their sleep almost as soon as the babies were born.

In normal situations they could have taken turns, one would have stayed in bed sleeping while the other went and took care of the babies. But it was not an option, they always had to get up together either to feed or clean them, or just to lull them back to sleep. They had tried everything and nothing worked, either they went together or the one who attended would die deaf.

They kept sleepy, drowsy and except for eating, from the moment the twins fell asleep they imitate them. Throwing themselves into bed without wasting time in putting on pajamas or insignificant things like that. They just wanted to rest and replenish a little of the sleep they were deprived of and then wake up and continue in their task of parenting.
