"What do you mean?" Aditi banged her fists on the table.
"Mrs. Malhotra, calm down. Nothing is in our hands. You should be thankful that he is back" the doctor said.
"I am thankful but what do you mean by, that he has no memory of last 10 years?"
"Look some medicines have side effects it maybe because of that. Also, because of the accident his brain has swollen a bit, that can be the reason as well. All you can do is wait" the doctor said calmly.
"That's exactly what I am doing from past five years" she said and sighed.
The fact that the person whom she loved doesn't remembers her anymore didn't go well with her.
"Should I help him in recalling everything?" Aditi asked.
"I would say no. If you do so he might get panic attacks or have severe headache which can be dangerous for him. If he recalls everything naturally well and good but if not then don't pressurise him" Aditi nodded.
She left the doctor's cabin and walked towards her husband's room. She opened the door and four pair of eyes looked at her. Three of them were looking at her with sadness and one with confusion.
"Why is she here again?" Yash asked her mother, Shalini.
"Yashu don't say like that. She is your wife" Shalini said.
"I don't remember marrying someone. Hell, I don't remember anything" Yash almost yelled.
"Believe it or not, she is your wife, Yash" Nakul said.
Yash and Aditi continued staring eachother. Yash's face was devoid of any emotion and Aditi's face had a small smile just looking at her husband talking to everyone.
Slowly everyone left the room leaving the two alone. Aditi sat on the stool next to his bed. She tried to hold his hands but he pulled it away.
"What is your name?" Yash asked.
"Aditi" she replied.
"Are we really married?" he asked.
Aditi unlocked her phone and opened her gallery. Clicking on one of their pictures she gave him the phone. It was the picture of their engagement.
Yash studied the picture as if it was the most important thing in the world.
"It can be fake" he said giving her the phone.
"What about this?" She showed him another picture where he was filling her partition with sindor and she had a smile on her face. It was one of her favourite pictures from their wedding.
Aditi showed him few more pictures but what caught his attention was their picture on the bed half-naked.
Aditi was wearing his shirt and his chest was on display. Her back was pressed against his chest and his face was in the crook of her neck. Few red spots on her neck was visible as his shirt that she was wearing was pulled down by her shoulder. She smiled as she took their selfie.
"What is this picture?" Yash asked.
"It's of our honeymoon. It is the first picture of us that I clicked after we made love for the first time" Aditi said as she remembered that day.
"How long we have been married?"
"Seven years soon going to be eight" she replied and he hummed in response.
There was a knock on the door. The door opened and Nakul entered the room.
"It's time to go home" Nakul said.
"I will get things ready" Aditi said and left the room. She was having hard time controlling her tears. But she have to stay strong. For him, for their love.
She paid all the hospital bills and packed all of Yash's stuffs. After an hour they were finally ready to leave. Nakul offered to drive as he knew that Aditi was tired. Both mentally and physically.
Once they reached their home Nakul immediately left saying he had an urgent meeting to attend.
Yash sat on the sofa, observing his surroundings. Everything was new yet familiar.
"Here" Aditi gave him a glass of water which he happily took.
"I think you should change. I will prepare dinner in the mean time" Aditi said with a smile.
"Can you make--" before he can complete the sentence Aditi spoke.
"-- Rajma Chawal?"
"How do you know I was going to say that?"
She smiled. "I just know" she said.
"Where is my room?"
"I will show you" Aditi showed him the entire house. Not that their apartment was very big but was big enough for two people.
"And this is our room" she stood in the middle of the room. Yash could smell her perfume in the air and he loved the fragrance.
Yash didn't say a word and just kept looking around. Aditi came and stood close to him.
"Can I hug you?" she asked. Before he could say anything she added "Please!" He nodded and she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him close.
Tears started to fill her eyes but she kept them at bay. She snuggled more into his chest to feel the warmth she had missed from past 5 years. Minutes later she pulled back and smiled at him.
"I will prepare dinner. Go take a shower" saying this she left to make dinner for them.
I have to stay strong and keep loving him was the only thing she repeated continuously.
