Closer to that evening, Rose's POV:
I sat in my personal quarters, hours later, replaying the conversation between Severus and I.
I was shocked, I was mind blown. I couldn't even believe that he asked me to accompany him to Hogsmeade.
I couldn't decipher if this was a date, or just two colleagues running errands. He asked for me to come, like it was a date.
But....a date? An actual date?
I didn't know if I was ready for that. I had so much baggage and so many secrets that the thought of opening myself up, especially to someone I didn't know that well, was absolutely terrifying.
He may be dark and gloomy, but he'd run screaming if he knew me beyond a professional relationship.
'Way to justify not going, Rose' I chastised myself.
I let out a heavy sigh.

snape's POV, Hogsmeade
I stood against the wall, my arms crossed. I growled lowly to myself, as my watch hit 7' o clock.
My eyes searched the crowds of witches and wizards, and I narrowed my eyes.
It appeared as though she wasn't going to show. Perhaps I scared her off, perhaps I came off too forward. This was out of my character as it was.
I ignored my initial feeling, replacing it with anger.
I turned back, and started to walk towards the Three Broomsticks, when I felt a hand tap my shoulder.
I was ready to yell at the perpetrator, but when I turned around, I was caught by surprise.
It was Miss. Underwood.
"Hi, Severus." She said with a smile.

Rose's POV:
Against my better judgement, I had decided to meet Snape at Hogsmeade. Whatever this was, or could be, right now, I could use a friend, and if that was Potions Master, then so be it.
I smiled up at him, and he seemed genuinely shocked to see me.
I couldn't help but laugh a little. "You look like you've seen a ghost. You were the one who invited me here, you know."
Severus cleared his throat. "I am well aware of that, Miss. Underwood, I'm just surprised you decide to grace me with your presence."
I chuckled at his sarcasm, and stood next to him.
"So, Severus, where to first?"
I didn't even give him a chance to reply, before I noticed where I want to go. My eyes lit up, and my lips turned into a devious smirk. I glanced at him, and he was already looking at me.
"Let's go."
I grabbed his arm and pulled him rather hard across the street, to a shop called "Witches' Wares".
I couldn't dim the smile on my face, and Snape rose an eyebrow at me.
"Why are we going to this establishment, Rose?"
I was temporarily halted by how he said my name, but recovered, smiling up at him, shrugging my shoulders.
"I was drawn to it, sue me."
With that, we walked inside.
I was like a kid in a candy store, and I think Snape sensed this. The store was not only filled with robes and dresses specifically designed for witches, but it was also stocked with wands, crystal balls, tarot cards, jewelry, and supplies for any spell you would ever want to cast.
At first glance, it would seem cheesy, but for me, I knew that the things within this shop were powerful, and reminded me of my old life in Salem, where I had first learned of my power.
With that memory, I felt the bad ones starting to filter in, so I shut my mind off from those, as quick as shutting off a light switch.
I looked to Snape, who had been silent. However, the look on his face had me giggling.
"You could at least pretend you're having a good time." I stated, standing by the shelf of tarot cards.
Snape rose an eyebrow at me, a hint of a smirk on his face. "Well, pardon me, Rose, if I find these types of shops ridiculous."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes, and Snape gave me an amused look.
"Clearly then, you don't know how powerful items such as these are."
I closed my eyes then, holding my hands out towards the tarot card shelf.
I focused within myself, thinking about my intention and using my intuition, letting my magic flow through me.
I opened my eyes, and watched as the tarot card deck levitated off the shelf, and into my hands. My fingertips sparked as it touched my skin.
This was the one.
I was staring lovingly at the deck for a moment, then I met Snape's eyes.
He had a look I couldn't decipher in his eyes. "Impressive, Rose."
I smiled, slightly sarcastic. "Wow, Professor, you're just full of compliments for me today. Are you feeling alright?"
The Potions Master rolled his eyes, trying to hide his amusement.
"Fancy a drink?"

A/N: Hello all! I'm sorry I've been gone for so long! If I'm being honest, I was feeling very unmotivated to write for a long time, and I'm pretty confident that it's because of Alan's passing. However, I had a surge of motivation in me yesterday and I couldn't stop thinking about finishing this story, and I couldn't stop thinking about Alan and Snape. I left you guys hanging, and I apologize! My plans are to keep writing this story, no matter how long it takes! 🤍
