A quest for love

~Greece's POV~
It was about 6pm when I was sitting down for dinner after feeding all of the cats when I got an alert on my cell phone saying I had a match on a dating app I had downloaded out of sheer curiosity.
I unlocked my phone and checked the app and recognized the person who had matched with me, it was Japan. Why would Japan even be on this app? I thought he was involved in some sort of love triangle with Germany and Italy. Though I'll admit I'm a little happy that he matched with me...I've always liked Japan he's one of the few countries I can stand, he's calm and respectful and he's not a talkative spaz like everyone else. Plus he likes cats almost just as much as I do~ maybe I should message him.
"Hi Japan I didn't know you used this app...were you wanting to go on a date?" I know it's a little blunt but I honestly want to know if he's interested in me...though now that I think about it maybe it was too soon to say something like that. It took a long time for Japan to respond to me and I even started to give up hope that he ever would until my phone buzzed to alert me of his reply. "Um..maybe, I really was just surprised to see you on this app too"
Damn it I knew it was to forward....I'll just explain why I'm using the app. "I've been feeling lonely lately...how about you?" Did I word that correctly?...
"Yes...that's why I had Italy help me set up a profile on this app..." Oh? So maybe he is actually interested after all...I smiled to myself and leaned back in my chair looking up at the clock on my wall. Oh yeah isn't it pretty late in Japan? I'm pretty sure his time is six hours ahead of mine....
""What time is it where you are?"
"A little past midnight..."
"Aren't you tired?" I frowned and looked outside at the stars, I know I would be tired if I was up that late...I usually fall asleep around eight or nine I can't imagine staying up till midnight. "No not really...I can't sleep" I frowned and looked over at one of the sleeping kittens next to me and smiled getting out of my chair and petting it gently before replying.
"Oh I'm sorry...I don't really have problems like that, but maybe this will make you sleepy?" I took a picture of the kitten and sent it to Japan hoping it would at least make him feel a little drowsy. After a second Japan replied with a picture of him laughing and hiding behind the sleeve of his kimono. I felt my face turn red as I stared at the picture for a long time before responding, "That's adorable, your cute like a cat" I blushed harder and covered my face for a moment trying to calm myself down, Jeez he really is cute...i think stomach is about to explode with butterflies. "You shouldn't call a man cute it's improper" I frowned at his text before replying.
"Why? I like being called cute, and your cute"
Once again Japan took a while to respond but when he did it was a complete subject change.
"So what have you been doing recently?"
Aw...he must be embarrassed, I wish I could see his face now. "Nothing, I've been going to the meetings and taking care of my cats, it's almost mating season so I'm preparing for several new kittens"
"That sounds tiring...are you sure you can do it by yourself? Maybe you should get someone to help you" I hesitated to respond for a moment...maybe this is an opportunity to invite him over...it's been so long since we've hung out and to be honest I do really need help..."Will you help me?" d a reply but I eventually did. "Um..maybe, I really was just surprised to see you on this app too" He replied surprisingly fast. "I've been feeling lonely lately...how about you?" I set my phone aside and grabbed a pillow hugging to tight to my chest.
Why does texting Greece feel weirder then talking to him in person?
"Yes...that's why I had Italy help me set up a profile on this app..."
"What time is it where you are?" I felt myself zone out a bit from such a weird question.
"A little past midnight..."
"Aren't you tired?" I frowned and hesitated to answer, how come this conversation seems so normal when the circumstances are so completely- not...normal. Well I guess it's probably only weird for me since he doesn't know I swiped right on accident. "No not really...I can't sleep"
"Oh I'm sorry...I don't really have problems like that, but maybe this will make you sleepy?"
Greece sent me a picture of his hand next to a sleeping kitten. I covered my mouth to silence my chuckle as to not wake up Italy, I wasn't quite sure what to say so I just replied with a picture of me laughing. Greece took a moment to reply.
"That's adorable, your cute like a cat" I felt my cheeks turn pink as I struggled for the right response. Damn it is he actually flirting with me or just being greece? It's too hard to tell he's always saying weird things...especially when their cat related. "You shouldn't call a man cute it's improper"
"Why? I like being called cute, and your cute"
I hit my forehead against the screen again before deciding to change the subject.
"So what have you been doing recently?"
Kuso ̄  (damn) I used Italy's question from earlier today. "Nothing, I've been going to the meetings and taking care of my cats, it's almost mating season so I'm preparing for several new kittens"
"That sounds tiring...are you sure you can do it by yourself? Maybe you should get someone to help you" Greece took a while longer to respond.
"Will you help me?" "Sure I don't mind" I smiled softly and replied quickly. "Thank you I really appreciate it, when can you be here? I mean when are you free" "I'm actually free for a while...a few months, even if I get a plane in the morning it will take me at least 18 hours to get to you since I'm flying in from Osaka" "It's not too urgent so you don't have to leave immediately, but it would be nice to see you as soon as possible...but you don't have to" I bit my lip and wanted to kick myself as I hit the send button, that totally sounded really desperate...but I'm not- well not really...I just want to see him and strengthen our friendship...maybe even create a new relationship with him if I'm lucky.
"I think I'll fly in tomorrow...I'll let you know when I'm on the plane but for now I should really go to bed" I smiled and replied with a photo of me and a cute hand gesture, "okay good night" I began typing something else but quickly deleted it deciding I should just let Japan get some rest...besides I need to eat and take a shower before I end up passing out somewhere. I suppose I'll just wait to hear from him tomorrow...
