An awkward silence, accompanied by a few stray sobs, filled the burrow that dreadful morning. No one was to be seen except for the two bodies occupying the rundown couch.

"Look Ron," Hermione placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "We need to talk about this like adults"

"Easy for you to say!" Ron finally lifted his head from the pillow that had muffled his cries. "You weren't the one just bloody broken up with!"

And with that, Ron aggressively pulled his shoulder away from her touch.

"2 years Hermione! After all we've been through, you give me 2 years of a relationship with you!"

"Relationships end, and unfortunately ours has-"

"Who is he?"

"Who is who, Ronald?"

"The bloody bloke you're leaving me for? How long you've been shagging him?"

That's the question that pushed Hermione over the edge. Not the previous ones she had been asked by him in this state. He had accused her that she had someone else. He had accused her of cheating - the one thing Hermione Jean Granger never did.

"Now listen here, Ronald" Hermione rose from her seat, staring down at Ron who she had just now noticed the trail of snot running over his lips. "There is nobody else, I just don't want to be with you anymore-"

Ron's mouth parted to speak, but Hermione wouldn't let him.

"-what could possibly come over you to think I would cheat on someone, let alone my best friend? I came here today to explain my feelings, hoping we would be able to act like the adults we are." Hermione let out an angry huff. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have things to do"

"That's all?"

Hermione, once pacing up and down the lounge in the small town house telling Ginny, who had just gotten back to London, stopped dead in her tracks at Ginny's question.

"What do you mean, 'that's all?'" Hermione mimicked the younger witch.

"Well I was honestly expecting it to go a lot more... well messy"

"I mean come on, 'Mione," Ginny continued at the sight of Hermione's furrowed brows. "It's you and Ron we're talking about. You two had been pining over each other for at least 3 years before you started dating, and then you did and 2 years pass; and then just a month ago it's all over"

Hermione sighed and placed herself next to Ginny on the couch, resting her head on her shoulder.

"You want to hear the worst part? When you and Harry were away when it happened, I wasn't even as upset as I should have be. You should have seen him Gin"

Before Ginny could reply, the roar of the fireplace was heard at the door. Neither of them expecting anyone, both girls quickly gripped their wands. It wasn't until they saw a mop of dark hair and piercing green eyes, that they relaxed and put the wands away.

"Harry, it's late."

"Good to see you too, 'Mione" Harry smiled as he walked passed l, giving her shoulder a playful nudge.

The rest of the evening consisted of Harry and Ginny telling Hermione everything about their trip, including, thanks to Ginny, the most obscure places her and Harry had had sex. Hermione couldn't keep in her laughter as Harry turned bright red and left the room, only to return with more wine. The wine-provoked laughter faded as Hermione filled Harry in about her and Ron, and Harry being Harry, wouldn't stop apologising about bringing him up.
