trigger warning vs content warnings,
whats the difference?

----

TRIGGER WARNINGS:

warnings before mentioning things that could associate with possible triggering subjects.

you should most definitely use trigger warnings before mentioning or posting anything, it helps the person get warned and exclude themselves.

common trigger warnings:

- flashing lights
- eyestrains
- slurs
- racism
- homophobia
- transphobia
- rape
- pedophilia
- gore
- threats
- sexual assault
- derealization
- suicide
- drugs
- alcohol
- panic/anxiety attacks
- violence
- blood
- eating disorders
- self harm
- body dysphoria
- loud noises / earrapes

triggers are usually caused by traumatic events and are more serious than content warnings.

- HOW TO USE TRIGGER WARNINGS -

e.g:

TW//____

TW: _____

LABEL THE TRIGGER!
do NOT do:

TW

-triggering content-
^ people need to get a 'heads up' on what the trigger is so they know if the content is potentially associated with something they are triggered to.

if its a video:

add trigger warnings in the beginning of the video or before the triggering content.

e.g:

0-5 seconds in:

" TW// ________
please proceed with caution!"

5+ seconds in:

-triggering content-

if its text:

make sure to add the tws BEFORE the message

e.g:

tw// _______

-triggering content-

CONTENT WARNINGS

content warnings are warnings for things that are associated with something that could make somebody uncomfortable.

content warnings are usually optional, but you should still add them in case.

common content warnings:

- eating/food
- blades or knives
- stalking
- a cc
- nsfw
- nudity
- scars
- etc.

content warnings are, like i said, not as serious but that doesn't break away from the fact you should still use them

the difference between them is that trigger warnings are more extreme rather then content warnings.

tws: prevent triggering something
cws: prevents making anyone uncomfortable
