Ahmanet could tell that Nefertiti wasn't very happy about the news. After she had accepted, the pharaoh simply smiled satisfied and dismissed them. Nefertiti looked at Ahmanet for a second before walking away. She quickly bowed to the pharaoh and hurried after the princess, as she stalked angrily to her room. Ahmanet memorized the route so that she could remember it.

She followed silently as the princess opened her door and shut it behind her. Ahmanet stood there for a minute wondering if she was aloud to enter. She shrugged a minute later before opening it and walking in , closing it behind her. She looked around the room curiously at the golden silk sheets on the huge wide bed and Bast statues and golden day bed in the middle of the room. Which was indeed fit for royalty. Not that Ahmanet had seen much of the palace let alone, inside the rooms. The most she had ever seen was from the princess balcony when she sometimes guarded at night . But she had rarely paid attention to the balcony but to the princess herself ,as she would always watch as the princess looked at the stars with a solemn expression and would wonder what she was thinking about and wishing she could put a smile on her face.

She walked farther into the room to see the princess walking aback and fourth with her arms crossed. Ahmanet stood there just watching her. A few minutes later she stopped pacing and sat on the edge of her day bed and looked at Ahmanet. "Do I look like I need protecting?"  She asked and Ahmanet looked at her shocked, blinking. She was expecting for her to pretend she wasn't even there. When she didn't respond, the Princess walked up to her and stood directly in front of her . "Do I look like I need protection Ahmanet?" Nefertiti asked again and Ahmanet's heart skipped a beat at hearing her name on the princess's lips.

"No you do not your highness." She replied automatically assuming that's what's she wanted to hear.

"Apparently my father thinks so." Nefertiti said back.

"I believe he's just looking out for you princess." Ahmanet said softly. Nefertiti walked away again and started pacing.

"But I know how to defend myself. I've been training for this since I was little! I don't need protecting!"

"I'm sure it's just a precaution. If it helps , don't look at me as your body guard and protector." Ahmanet said , trying to make her feel better. She understood her anger. If someone told her she needed protection , even though she could fight with the best of them, she would prove how much she needed protection by flipping them on their back.

"Then what should I call you then? My tagalong? My shadow?" The princess said with an amused smile as she stopped pacing and looked at her. Ahmanet smiled

"If that's what you prefer but I was just thinking friend ." She replied.

Nefertiti walked up to her again and stared into her eyes. "Friends?" She asked softly as if the term was unfamiliar to her. Ahmanet nodded softly and held her hand out and grabbed the princess hand gently to shake. "Friends."

When they touched , a strange shiver ran through the both of them as the princess regarded the warrior quietly. "Well I'm going to get ready for bed. You may rest on the day bed if you like." Nefertiti told her, gesturing towards the couch and Ahmanet nodded.

"Thank you. That's very kind of you." Ahmanet said , not expecting the sincere gesture. Usually no one around the palace talked to them unless they need something. Nefertiti began unwrapping the ties of her golden wrap dress as she spoke.

"You're welcome. Since we will be spending a lot of time together we should at least make it so we're both comfortable and when we're alone, you don't need to use formalities." She said as she stepped out the dress and it fell to the floor. Ahmanet gapped in shock and looked away with a blush on her cheeks.

"I'll leave you to get dressed." She said as she peeked at her one more time before looking away again.

"What for? We're both women so why not stay? Plus I have a feeling that's why my father chose you. No other Medjay would be allowed into my room." Nefertiti said as she removed the golden headband adorned with gold beads and bracelets on her arms before turning to meet the Medjay with a smile, as she walked to her bed , wearing only a plain, thin golden bra and bottom.

Ahmanet nodded avoiding eye contact. Even if she's right and the pharaoh did choose her because she was a woman, she wasn't like other women, neither did she have the same interest as most.

"Remember I said there's no need for formalities Ahmanet." Nefertiti said as she laid in her bed and covered herself in the golden silk sheets.
Ahmanet nodded and walked to the soft golden day bed and sat as she looked at the princess, who seemed to be watching her curiously. Nefertiti smiled before replying softly.

"Good night Ahmanet." She said before rolling over on her side.

"Night princess." She whispered quietly.
