Tristan's pov (sort of an epilogue)
"Hey, Tris! Guess what?! Anna asked me out!"
There it was. The constant reminder I could never have him, accompanied by the ache in my chest. The ache of one-sided love.
"I told you she likes you," I said with a small fake smile.
"I know you did and I wish I listened to you. I never really thought she would ask a guy like ME, y'know. I mean, not that I'm ugly or anything, but-"
"You're perfect. Stop worrying about it.""I'm NOT. I just wanted to let you know, you'll have to go home by yourself. I'm staying with her in town."
"Sure," I said silently, avoiding his breathtaking gaze.
"I'll catch up with ya later then?" he asked uncertain.
"See ya," I said, pressed the books to my chest and walked away.I wanted to punch that beautiful smile off of his beautiful face. That would teach him a lesson.
My name's Tristan, the one in the red hoodie. Tris for short, but only one person calls me that. I'm a high-school student and I have the biggest crush on my best friend. You'd think there's nothing wrong with that, but what you don't know is that my best friend is a HE. IT is a GUY.
And now you must think I'm gross and all of that stuff, because guys and what not, but I can assure you, I'm not gay. Males don't attract me. I'm only attracted to this one person and we just so happen to have the same gender. Not really my problem, is it. That person is Jake, the one in the blue. A popular outgoing sunshine, my childhood friend, now my best friend AND also the guy I've had a crush on ever since 4th grade of middle school.
I must seem crazy. Not because I want to beat the living shlit out if him, but because I don't have the courage to tell him how I feel. I know that he would never be angry at me. I'm certain of that. He would stay my friend no matter what. Still... His rejection might be a bit too much for me to handle. And so would being JUST FRIENDS after my outburst of love for him.
In the words of my friend: "Shuck it!" Crushes are meant to crush us, so I don't care if I'm acting like a freackin' teenage girl. It makes life more interesting I suppose. Though it would help if my crush wasn't so damn oblivious to everything.
And now even Anna asked him out AND of course he had to go. Who cares about Tristan anyway.
No, I mustn't think like that. I know he cares. Somewhere deep deep deep down inside, but he does.
TRISTAN'S POV (Actual story-line)
After he left -or I left him, whatever- I got on the bus and sat down in the empty seat at the very back of the vehicle. I put my headphones on and raised the volume of my phone, so I could shut out all of the outside world.
/Cecilia, you're breaking my heart
/You're shaking my confidence daily/~~
/Put your hands up/
/You're surrounded/
/The whole love thing/
/I clowned it/
/Then who's the joker?/
/I guess I'm it/
/'Cause I let it right go when I found it/
