Lloyd Shanin Suri Pastor, the person I admire the most. He is the epitome of all the wonders the universe has to offer. If learning can generate strength, he would be able to crush us to a mash in the world of learning. Despite all of this, he broke my heart into a million pieces. He turned the girl who always saw the good in everything into a girl who couldn't trust anyone and just like that, he ruined me.
Math trail is a part of outdoor education, it is a walk where you can discover, analyze, and solve different kinds of mathematical problems on real objects. The participants in it observes and analyzes the environment to discover kinds of math concepts and problems that they are studying. They then create problems in different stations or locations that the facilitator gave them to solve based on their observations.
The trail leads participants or traces a route through the school grounds. The choice will depend on the circumstances and resources that exist at the certain school to compete.
The math trail competition has these purposes-- to improve students' problem-solving and critical thinking ability by means of giving them the opportunity to create and solve their own problems, to increase students' ability to work as a team on mathematical problems and to communicate mathematical ideas.
We have 6 stations and we only have an hour to measure and analyze everything, therefore, each station has 10 minutes. The faster, the better, pero ang mga station na ito ay malayo sa isa't isa, all of you must run faster," pagpapa-alala niya.
"Noted Ma'am," sabay-sabay na tugon namin. "Good. Ang Station 1 ay ang Math Garden, Station 2 will be the gymnasium, Station 3 ang PAGCOR Building, Station 4 ang PPP Building, Station 5 ang Senior High School (SHS) Building, while the last Station is at the Pathway of the School Entrance.
"The timer starts now!"
"Kirbs, count all the things you see, from the shapes, plants and pots, use all the knowledge you learn as you measure, analyze, and count everything. Ikaw naman Andrew, check the timer, list all the infos, identify all the things you see that is odd, check for theorems, their structure, properties, approximation, relations and all the expressions you see."
We organized a set of data, measures each objects and geometrical shapes, count them, their relationship in each segments, the angles, different sequences and their series, ratio, propotions, and variations, their properties, the Pythagorean relation, types of variables, logic, sets, circumference, length of an arc of a curve, graphs, applications with triangles, identities, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, vector, cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems, number of students in each classrooms, rows, columns, types of cars, plate numbers, numbers of wheels, area, perimeter, volume, length, height, width, base, perpendicular height, perimeter circumference, distance, range, lines, axes, sides, probabilities, repetition, area in terms of pi, finding the height of flag using a protractor, slope, conic sections, units, counting techniques, solid geometry, conversion, average, speed, uniform motion problems, mathematics symbols, shapes formed by adjoined/connected steel components, angle of elevation, and so on.
Dahil sa sobrang daming pwedeng sukatin sa Station 1 o Math Garden ay nagtagal kami ng more than 10 minutes but less than 15 minutes dito.
Tinakbo rin namin ni Kirbs ang building patungong last floor, to measure the exact height of it for us to compare the one we measure using protractor and by measuring it at the top. Dahil sa pare-pareho lamang ang structure ng bawat classroom ay sinukat na lang namin ang isa, we can multiply it naman by means of counting how many classrooms the building have, and so the last station came.
"Go! Don't forget your height and age before finding the approximate measure of it!" Sigaw niya sa akin.
"Yes po! Kaya ko po ito!" Sagot kong muli.
"Very good everyone!" "Before answering the questionnaire, sigurado ba kayo na nasukat niyo at na identify niyo lahat?"
