In the doorway, stood a girl with long red hair, emerald eyes roaming around the disheveled compartment floor, her face clearly showing the aversion to the mess they created.
Millie knew who she was. Top of every class. Favorite of most teachers. The one and only, Lily E-
"Evans! The love of my life! Were you searching for me? I knew you missed me this summer."
James jumped off the seat, his hand inadvertently reaching to his black messy hair to make it even more messy. A large smirk grew on his brown face.
"I don't have time to waste for meaningless things.", Lily retorted.
"Ouch! It hurts.", James dramatically clutched his heart while Sirius snickered.
Lily rolled her eyes and turned to Remus, "Aren't you coming? It's almost time."
Seeing the confused look on Remus's face, she pointed towards her chest where a metallic red badge with a golden word which read 'PREFECT', was pinned to the black robe.
"I knew it! You are selected as the Prefect. Congratulations Evans!", James beamingly stretched his left hand out.
Lily looked at it with disdain. "Yeah I am and so is he."
James's eyebrows settled into a frown and before he could say anything, Remus yelled.
"I got it!"
He pulled out his arm from his pocket, holding a badge similar to that of Lily's.
Sirius straightened from his slouched position, "Wait a minute! You are a Prefect too?!"
He and James looked at their best friend, mouth agape. Peter's eyes lingered on the badge in awe.
"Yeah, I might have forgotten to mention.", Remus admitted sheepishly, his long hands scratching the back of his neck.
"I can't believe you forgot yourself too." Lily shook her head, trying to conceal the smile growing on her face.
Her eyes landed on the short blonde girl in the compartment, while Remus pulled on his school robe over his dress.
"Hai Millie. I'm Lily. I sincerely apologize for taking Remus and leaving you behind with these boys", Lily smiled down at her, "but duty calls."
"Heyy we are not that much a trouble!!", Sirius protested.
Millie was shocked that yet another student recognized her, "You know me?"
Lily's eye softened, "Yeah of course. I really like your skill with plants. It's great."
She felt a smile widening on her face. "T-Thanks."
"Also, who wouldn't know the Incendio girl?", Lily winked and Millie yet again found herself turning a deep shade of red, brighter than Evan's hair.
"It was nice meeting you. But we gotta go. Bye. Come on Lupin.", Lily clutched Remus's arm and turned to the compartment door.
"Oh, also you guys better change to your robes.", with that the duo left them alone.
James was still standing, a dreamy look in his eyes.
"Hai Millie. I'm Lily.", Sirius mocked in a female voice, "That sure did rhyme."
His laughter stopped when a crunched-up wrapper ricocheted his head and hit the window.
Sirius glared at James whose hands were still raised.
"AHH THROW WAR!!!", Sirius yelled and hurled a packet of jellies towards James, who skillfully dodged it. The jellies bounced in different directions when they hit the door.
And this lead to a series of throws, different sweets flying through the air, staining the already messed up compartment.
Millie tried to huddle towards one corner to avoid being hit. Peter enjoyed the food fight and kept on supplying both of them with things to throw at each other.
James flung a can of pumpkin juice towards Sirius, who used a hard packet as a beater's bat to whack it. The can dashed towards Millie, but she luckily ducked at the last moment. But it crashed with the seat and the impact squirted the liquid inside to the surroundings, which unfortunately included Millie. Time seemed to slow as Millie got drenched with the liquid.
The juice smirched her cream shirt and her blonde hair looked half dyed with orange. She was so glad she hadn't taken out her book to read.
The improvised bat obeyed gravity and hit the floor from a startled Sirius, whose hand was still raised mid-air. Peter sat there, mouth wide open but twisted towards one end. His skin near his eyes wrinkled as he controlled his urge to laugh out loud. James's rectangular glasses stood askew over his long nose, which he used his left hand to prop up towards his eyes.
Millie could feel the juice seeping through her hair and dripping to her forehead. She wiped her eyes free of the orange liquid. By then the boys overcame the initial shock and burst into laughter. Sirius dropped to the floor, unable to stop his laugh, thumping the train floor with his fist. The glasses came askew again as James doubled over in laughter, clutching his stomach. Peter finally exploded into cackles.
Millie stood up from her seat, the soaked dress clinging to her body.
Suddenly the door got pulled open.
"Hey, children! Change to your robes. We will reach the school in-"
The tall brunette stopped short when she noticed the havoc inside the room. Eyebrows raised, she finished slowly, taking in Millie's state, "uh... t e n.. minutes. Yeah." She nodded to herself.
She rearranged a blue badge pinned on her robe which read 'HEAD GIRL'.
"You might want to, um... change your clothes quickly. We are nearly there.", she directed this to Millie and closed the door.
Millie glared at the boys who continued their chortling. With great effort, she brought down one of her trunks and carefully took out clean clothing and her house robes, trying her best to not smear juice onto it.
Sirius straightened up, wiping a tear that escaped his eye, and opened his mouth to apologize, "We a-re really so-o-rry.". He was doing a terrible job at controlling his laugh. His hair was sticking up in different directions from all the commotion. Peter was the only one in that room who seemed tidy now.
Millie huffed and left the room. Not long before the door shut, snickerings of those three flowed down the corridor.
She regretted getting into the compartment with them.
Only if she hadn't slept in!!!
