"Was it Engorgio?"
"Can you make that again?"
"Is it true that you didn't have a wand?"
"Have you got Marshmallows in your pocket?"
From the instant the boys have referred to her as the 'Inferno Girl', Millie was bombarded with absurd questions.
"No, no, no, and n-...w-why would I have Marshmallows with me?"
".....To roast in the fire?"
After two seconds of complete silence, the room shook with laughter.
"It was an accident!!", Millie yelled desperately over the laughter of the boys.
It of course was an accident. Or who would set a whole class on fire?
Millie really doesn't know how it happened. She remembered trying to use Bombardo on the small cauldron and the next moment the whole class was filled with smoke decorated with dancing small flames.
Except for some unlucky parchments, cauldrons, practice feathers, 3 tables, one brown-haired boy's very messy brown hair... no major destructions were caused.
This cost her 100 house points and 2hrs every day for 3 months, which she had to spend in detention with Hogwarts's gamekeeper, Rubeus Hagrid.
"You care to share your secret? It could be very useful to us.", Sirius flashed a taunting smirk.
Millie was saved from the embarrassment by a knock followed by a lovely voice,
"Anything from the trolley, dears??"
The boy who let her in, Remus, fished his hand into his worn-out jumper. Before he could reach the door, Sirius stopped him.
"Oii! Moony, what do you think you are doing?"
Remus looked back with a confused look on his face.
"No, today it's my treat", James jumped off his seat.
"But-"
"Nope, no buts", Sirius dragged Remus back to his seat and turned to Millie.
"What shall I get you, M'lady?", Sirius bowed dramatically, a loose strand of his long black hair slouching over his eyes.
"Uh... I don't want anything.", said Millie thinking about her mom's lecture on conserving money. "I've got sandwiches with me."
Remus looked at her, his green eyes filled with amusement.
"No no-no. If you are riding in the Hogwarts Express, you should taste what it offers." With that, the two boys marched out.
After a moment of silence, they reemerged with their hands filled with various sweets wrapped in colourful glitter paper. They dumped their treasure onto the blue leather seat. It seemed like they bought every type of candy from the Trolley Lady. Peter side glanced at his friends and when he saw Sirius already chewing onto a Licorice Wand, he delved into the sweets. Remus took a hexagonal blue box and handed it over to Millie before opening a chocolate bar for himself. The protruding lid was engraved with the golden words, 'Chocolate Frogs', surrounded by an intricate design. Millie cautiously opened it, and as anticipated, a brown frog jumped out of it. It landed directly onto James's open palm.
"The sweet choose its wizard".
After a failed attempt to sound like the wandmaker, Mr. Ollivander, James popped the chocolate frog into his mouth.
In no time, the compartment floor was filled with toffee wraps and chocolate crumbs.
"A risk with every mouthful!", Sirius exclaimed and made everyone take one candy from the packet of Bertie Bott's Every Flavoured Bean.
Before James could even swallow his candy, he spat it out and reached for a half-eaten chocolate bar. "Bleaaargh, Vomit!"
"Mhmm... Coffee!", exclaimed Remus, still munching onto his jelly bean.
Peter cautiously took a golden-brown jelly bean, hoping it to be an eclair flavoured one. But he grimaced when it turned out to be an earwax flavoured one.
"Guys, I got Dog food"
Remus choked onto his pumpkin juice when he heard Sirius, who was grinning from ear to ear.
"How do u know what dog food tastes like?", Millie asked.
She saw them all sharing glances with each other, a knowing smile decorating their faces, their eye sparkling with mischief.
"How about you try one of them? Let's see what you will get.", James offered her the packet before she could ask any more.
Hesitantly, she reached into the packet and chose a pale coloured bean.
She put it into her mouth, thinking about snatching the violet sweet from Sirius's hand if she got an ear waxed one. A bite into the jelly and her eyes widened.
"What is it??", James asked her expectantly.
"Chocolate!", Millie said with a large smile.
"You were just lucky", James fished out another one for her. "Try this."
Seeing no escape, she ate the grey spotted white candy.
"Mhm, my favourite, Coconut!"
"What?", this time Sirius made her eat a red bean he chose.
"Strawberry!"
A hazel one.
"Honey!"
A purple one.
"Apple"
A grey one.
"Mint"
A yellow one.
"um... cream!"
Sirius hurled the empty packet onto the opposite seat. "That's not fair!", his brows furrowed, "I think all the beans at the bottom of the packet were good flavoured ones."
"Oh, then you try this, Padfoot", Remus raised an ash-coloured jelly bean from the discarded packet which Sirius declared was empty.
"Yeah I'll prove it.", Sirius rose and exchanged seats with Remus and gave the candy to James.
"Prongs, into my mouth!"
"Here goes nothing", James slowly muttered when he hurled the ash bean perfectly into Sirius's open mouth, to which Peter responded by clapping his hands and slowly stopped when he realized no one was doing it.
After one bite, Sirius's face contorted. He tried to eat it, but his body rejected. "Ugh Soap!"
The compartment roared with laughter and the sound washed out into the hallway, while Sirius slouched onto his seat with his arms crossed, jutting his lower lips into a pout.
"The last one wasn't cream, was it?", Remus bent down and whispered to Millie when James went and comforted his over-dramatic friend.
Millie turned her face towards his and shook her head with a sly smile. "Grass"
Their joyous moment was interrupted when the compartment door got pulled open.
"There you are!"
