"Ready??"
"Ready."
"On the count of three."
"one" "two" "three!"
Millie and Dan rushed to the wall dividing the platforms 9 and 10 of King's Cross station, pushing a trolley full of different-sized luggage.
Instead of feeling the hard brick on their faces, they were greeted by the noise of a rather large strange-looking crowd, muffled by the sound of a train engine.
Millie opened her eyes and saw the display board engraved '9 3/4'.
A smile grew on her lips when her eyes fell on the familiar train painted in black and red.
The Hogwarts Express stood there proudly, puffs of smoke escaping its head, impatiently waiting for children to board it. Dan at last tore his gaze from the wall they just came through, a magic, his small innocent mind could never get tired of.
His golden orbs sparkled with joy as they scanned the platform.
Children rushed past each other pushing their trollies, laughing merrily. Some chasing after their lost pets. Others craning their neck to find their best friends. Despite all the efforts some seniors did, they were not able to stop their parents from weeping, earning snickering from their friends.
"So another year, huh??"
The children were brought out from their trance by a gruff voice. They glanced back at the tall man whose brown bangs covered most of his forehead, standing beside a blonde woman.
"Ah yes. Another year of peace at the Turner's household without this little old Millie.", exclaimed Millie dramatically, a smirk tugging her lips.
The tall man smiled weakly at her.
Her smirk vanished and she let out a sigh.
"Come on Papa. I'll be back for the Christmas holidays." Millie squeezed his hard yet safe hands. " Now smile. Eeeee..."
Her father chuckled and ruffled her blonde hair. He pressed a kiss onto her forehead.
"I'm gonna miss you Milmy..."
Millie looked down at the weight tugging her waist. She kneeled down to Dan's level and hugged him tightly. "Me too bud"
Their small love sharing was interrupted by a sharp whistle of the train.
"Oh, that's the last warning. I should get going now."
Millie stood up from the ground and exchanged a quick hug with her family for one last time.
"Please don't try too hard not to make friends." Her mother told her teasingly before she brought her daughter into a warm hug. Millie rolled her eyes at that but she couldn't conceal the smile forming on her face.
"I need to go. I'll write to you guys. Try to write back okay. Ah also give Smurfy some marshmallows when she comes home. She likes it. And Dan don't have too much fun without me okay?? Byee!!", Millie yelled after making a silly face at Dan, through the crowd as she dashed towards the train that would take her to her second home.
