"I know traditionally your hair would be pin back or in braids but the long, curly hair to fall on your neckline really does the look justice." Aida reassures you in the back of the limo your dad had rented. Aida is in a mint green princess gown with a sweetheart neckline and Candice had gone with a blood red gown that had a plunging neckline. It was very her and very risqué. Both of them have masks that matched the embroidery on the dresses.
They were really going all out to cheer you up. You thought no one knew you loved Aaron but maybe they did with how Candice and your family were acting. When the three of you make it to the hotel, you're surprised to see it's not as busy as it you anticipated. A concierge directs the three of you to the ballroom.
The scene is breath taking. There are stars and twinkly lights hanging from the ceiling in excess, the dark ceiling making it look almost like it was the night sky. Only a handful of tables sit throughout the hall on the outskirts of a large dance floor. Flowers are everywhere; literally everywhere. White roses and daises, blue and green hydrangeas, and a few sunflowers here and there are on the tables, in vases on the floor and wooden wagons.
The three of you make your way over the bar which looks old fashioned. "Good evening madames. Would you like a Gin Eyre or the Y/n?" The bartender does a small nod and bow.
"I'm sorry, did you just ask me if I want the Y/n?" You lean towards him, making sure you can hear him clearly.
"Yes. They're both lemon based drinks though the Gin Eyre is sweeter, as it's made with gin and more simple syrup. The Y/n has more bite to her, it's a whiskey sour with a lemon twist on it." The bartender regards you patiently.
"She'll have the Y/n. She's what inspired it, it's only right." Candice speaks for you as your mouth is simply agape at his words.
"You're Y/n? One moment please." His eyes widen in alarm and he picks up the phone next to him. "Sir, the guest of honor is here."
"Guest of honor? What the fuck is going on? What did you get me into?" You turn to Candice and Aida who have guilty looks on their faces.
"Here's your drink. The Y/n for the Y/n." The bartender hands you the drink and you take a few large gulps before setting it down.
"Don't be mad at us, it was too romantic for any of us to say no." Aida begs, putting on her signature pout.
Too romantic to say no? What the hell was going on?
"Please be fucking joking." You cover your face with your hands even though half of it is already obscured by your mask.
"Uh, good evening, if everyone could take their seats." His voice washes over your senses, making you tingly in ever place and you slowly turn around to find Aaron Hotchner standing in the middle of the dance floor. He looks delectable, in a dark blue tux that fits him perfectly. His face is covered by a dark blue mask, his hair slicked back perfectly.
As you look around you realize that you're recognizing people. A couple of your coworkers are here, your best friends from high school, your parents, and what looks like Aaron's team.
"Oh my fucking god." You whisper under you breath as Candice and Aida pull you to a smaller table with two huge golden chairs.
"I know that I'm usually quite reserved, I've been told that I can be uptight, emotionless and 'a fucking jerk'. Tonight I want to attempt to be the opposite of that. Tonight and every night from now on I want to be everything Y/n could ever want or need." His eyes don't leave you as he says this things and you feel tears starting to pool in your eyes.
"I made a mistake. It is undoubtedly the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I let you walk away from me. I let my pride and my fear of loving you get the best of me. You're the most incredible, intelligent, beautiful human on this planet and I'm so sorry that I let you go." He starts to make his way over to you, stopping on the other side of the table. "I could keep going with my own words but I thought I could more proficient by telling you how I feel with some of your favorite words. The words of Rochester himself." He closes the remainder of the space between the two of you, pulling you to your feet. "Every atom of your flesh is as dear to me as my own: in pain and sickness it would still be dear."
