A group of people walked down the snow covered path, the snow crunching under their shoes. A little girl and her father walked in front of the group. She glanced at her father, she didn’t know what exactly was happening. Why were they running away? What had everyone back home been screaming about?
“Father,” she whispered. “Where are we going, and why?” No answer. She sighed. She wasn’t surprised, he hadn’t said anything except for telling her to pack her stuff and dress up.
“We’re going to a city named Liyue, I assume you’ve heard of it in your studies?” Of course she had. It was one of the most economically prosperous cities in Teyvat. If the pictures in her books were anything to go by, it was beautiful, especially during their Rite of Descension. But he had still not answered her second question.
All of a sudden he picked his daughter up and settled her on his hip.. “Niana,” he said. “Something… terrible, has befallen Khaenri'ah. “ The little girl tilted her head in confusion. He sighed. “The gods of Teyvat disapprove of our technological advances. They feel uneasy at the thought that we can live without a god. They are cowards of the worst kind. They seek to destroy humanity’s progress so that we will always need them.” He looked at the star shaped tattoo on the side of her neck. “It is likely that we will all be exterminated, so I need you to promise me one thing." Niana stared at her father in anticipation.
"Remember where you come from. Khaenri'ah is your home. Try and rebuild it. No god can stand in your way. Become your own god." he said, staring straight into her eyes.
She didn't really understand what he was saying, it was a bit confusing if she was being honest.
She unfortunately wouldn't get the chance to process it, as everyone's worst nightmare came to pass.
"IT'S ONE OF THE GODS!" someone in the back shouted.
